Let's not be too harsh. He's damned any which way. This way seems ridiculous. We wouldn't be happy if he declared we were already down and if he kept silent I suspect he would be criticised for that too!

A simple "we fight on" would have been adequate. If I fly Air Asia and upon boarding, see a poster from Tony declaring his " supreme confidence " in the safety of the aeroplane, I'll be off before they close the cabin door

Whilst the logic sounds reasonable the fact is the difference in income between Premiership & Championship is so huge that the idea of not at least bringing in a couple of loans to give ourselves a decent chance was insane & will end up costing us £10's of millions more in lost income.

Remember we started the year outside the relegation zone above Leicester, Burnley, Palace, WBA & within a point of Hull & Sunderland at that point the decision should have been either to back or sack HR & allow whoever was in charge to bring in at least a couple of loans but instead we had nothing.

It's just speculation, perhaps the board was split on spending, perhaps they tried but couldn't get anyone in (quality hard to find, even on loan, in January), but perhaps they remember the £20m they spent two winters ago in an attempt to stay up which achieved nothing. Perhaps they thought, and were told, that with 5 wins, decent home form and not in the bottom three we would have enough. But it has been this 'double or quits' mentality that has got us where we are. Financially we are so screwed that spending on PL quality players would be like taking out a pay day loan to pay off your 6 maxed out credit cards.

The difference between this season & two winters ago was that we weren't even in the bottom 3 whereas last time we was rock bottom & well away from safety. Even then the money we gambled on Remy & Samba we recouped so nothing really lost. This time we did nothing & will cost us big time.

    FFS!!!

We only wanted one season of solace. Imagine having forty points on the board right now? Oh to have the opportunity of watching everyone below us fight, like Swansea had, like Palace, Southampton had and even Norwich. But not us, it's been four years of sheer bloody hell. We're in purgatory. And to cap it all ... there is no end in sight.

In actual fact, it has been twenty years of hell!

Am l right in thinking it was mentioned that Harry blew the entire window 'wages' budget for loans on Zarate? If he had a grudge against TF at that time he couldn't have picked a better way of kneeing TF in the groin before then picking the worst day to walk away from the club, the bloke was a prize c*nt...

Agreed but as others have commented, there are multiple scenarios that might explain the inactivity.

I'm not surprised that TF takes some flak because he's made - and admitted to - some big mistakes. However, he and the board have spent massively, perhaps trying too hard to make us successful too quickly.

Above all, I ask myself, would we be any better off without them? Like hell we would. There's too much hindsight on here and I pray that, having learnt their lessons, Tony and co keep on trying and, as far as they're allowed, keep on spending. I still dare to dream.

Good for you and I share your dreams in the sincere hope they don't turn into nightmares.
