I sat in the stand at Loftus Road for the presentation the day after the play off final at Wembley. TF took the mic and said "We have learnt valuable lessons from being in the Championship and realised there are very good players in the championship. We no longer want players on their way down that have won Champions league and premier league titles, we want players coming to QPR who are hungary and making a step up in their career. Our first signing.....Rio Ferdinand. I love Uncle Tone but he didn't learn any lessons from the last time in the Premier League. Sadly I think it could be a long time before we return.
He's learnt f*ck all and is so full of bullsh*t l've now accepted that we're about to hit a serious nosedive. Four years on there's no new training ground, no new stadium other than his fantasy and a team that is total shyte. Oh and the small matter of £245 million pissed into the wind in wages and fees for players who have taken the piss out of the club and us suporters, Rio has just been the icing on a very unpalatable cake. Add to that the upcoming FFP fine and transfer embargo and we are well and truly f*cked...
When Harry switched from 3-5-2 after the Spurs shambles we were effectively done for, TF had plenty of time to get rid but left it till the day after the window closed. We never stood a chance really...
When this season ends, there will be a lot of soul searching and analysis but Jan 15 will remain a major mystery. Harry was clearly a dead man walking but why waste the chance to bring anyone in to give us a slightly better chance for the rest of the season by accepting his 'resignation' after the window closed.
I think the answer is simply that the owners didn't want to spend any more money on players, without it being funded by sales and without raising the wage budget. They've had enough. Perhaps they thought 'we've gambled enough, clearly we are not very good at it, we spent £33m in the summer, that should be enough'. We got rid of Mutch, Redknapp couldn't spend the money. Opposite of last time has happened since - in 12-13 the owners kept the faith, the manager and players gave up. The timing of Redknapp's departure was awful for the next manager (but no worse than Lambert's at Villa) but I don't think there would have been any cash even if he had gone during or before the window. I can't say I blame them for not spending any more, they have already thrown away £250m, but I don't have any sympathy for them either, piss poor management for ages now and every single decision stops with them. Who knows how they will handle relegation and various consequences. Have they replaced Beard and the Financial Director yet, or does Ferdinand do everything? I think these blokes genuinely wanted to turn us into a successful club, but had no idea how to do it (neither would I) and were easily distracted, refusing to recognise that business conditions here (where you need planning permission for example) are different to Asia, and that 'football people' are not always (or even often) right. What a balls up, shame it's our club.
I think, one after another, the Ferdinands have systematically attempted to destroy the Club from within
He still believes! Tony Fernandes @tonyfernandes 3h3 hours ago Tough day. Deserved a win. But how many times have I said that. All that matters is table. still supremely confident that we will stay up. I wish I shared his supreme confidence.
Was he talking about his favourite team West Ham?* * this is for black humour purposes only. I do think Tone would like us to stay up.
I'm afraid he doesn't realise that far from pepping the supporters up, these ridiculous head-in-the-clouds statements make him look even more like the inept dreamer the fans already suspect him to be
