Unacceptable performance yesterday, but for Henderson's heroics we would have lost heavily. We had two shots on target in 90mins, a long range effort from Watt, tipped over by. Randolph, and a close range effort in the second half from Igor. Apart from that, we relied on the brilliance of our Cat for a succession of great saves, best of which was his one handed push into the post from a long range shot in the first five mins. Irony of ironies that Ben Hamer was strutting amongst our away fans yesterday. The only other players to acquit themselves well were Ben Haim and Watt. Johnson took dogs abuse off the Zulus throughout, and Cousins was woeful, his poor touch and missed tackle leading directly to their goal. Highlight of the day was sausage and chips outside the ground for a mere £3. Our support was excellent until the majority cottoned on that the players had not turned up, then the focus was on Millwall
Fair play to you Royston for making the effort to go to a meaningless end of season game. I had a great time watching the U18s beat Notts Forest 3-0 at the Valley. I also got into an argument with the Notts Forest coach Gary Brazil who spent the whole match berating the Referee, linesman and anybody else. Him and his assistant Jack Lester were bellends of the highest order. I really rubbed it in at the end of the game.
Dick - hopefully the success of the Under 18s shows we have some more talent ready to challenge the first team. I feel we urgently need a new quality centre midfielder and two strikers this summer. Another highlight of yesterday was the loud piss taking chants for "Simon Church-inio" in the second half. Igor really was that bad (again).
I think we have a lot of talent for the future. Whether next season will be too soon for them we will have to see. What I like is that they try to play the ball on the ground. Plus most of the players are fairly local, I know you like that Royston. With regards to the First Team it looks like Buyens is heading back to SL according to his tweet. We definitely need a new central midfielder who can weigh in with a few goals. But I feel that we also need a new centre half who can play alongside Gomez. I don't think Johnson is the answer. With Bikey and Onyewu seemingly on their way and Ben Haim out of contract we need to strengthen. As you say we also need two strikers one being a target man. I hear that Craig Mackall Smith is being released by Brighton, I wonder if he could do a job alongside a target man? As for Vetokele I have no idea what is wrong with him. He just seems to be going backwards.
Had some serious knee injuries and wasn't the same after. If brighton who are very lucky that there is dross such as Wigan millwall and Blackpool saving them from relegation don't want him, that answers the question really!
Interesting that a debate started on the train coming back amongst Charlton supporters, and Craig Mackell Smith was a name that came up. Good riddance to Buyens if he goes back to SL. He jogged around the pitch on Saturday like a fun runner trying to shake off a hangover. I really hope Jordan Cousins works on his technique over the summer and pre season. A great engine is being negated by the touch of a hod carrier.
Speculation is slowly filtering out that yoni won't be here next season. I'm not massively won over by bulot yet either, too many games he fails to appear.
Shame i know its the end of the season and we have nothing to play for, except some wanting contracts and if it was that bad maybe not many want contracts Feel for the people who spent all that hard earned cash going up
