A few observations from MOTD. Aluko actually got on the ball in deep positions for once and was able to run at them. That ball for Brady was excellent. N'Doye is a proper striker isn't he? Even that one he put just wide you could see the excellent technique. Then he got the same type of shot just right for his 2nd. At one point Burns and and Swan thought he was going off for Ramirez, at 1-0. I was pulling my hair out thinking back to all the leads we've lost after taking our only proper striker off. We kept him on and it worked. Lesson learnt? I hope so.
I thought the ref and linesmen did a decent job today, I also think credit is due to both sets of players for not over-reacting when they thought decisions had gone against them. I think it would be fair to say we had the rub of the green today, for a change.
Does anyone know what the rattle/fight was about in the top corner? Stewards vs City fans, a couple were thrown out.
Perfect away day today really, good atmosphere, free beers and most importantly a win! I thought Quinnys energy in midfield was massive for us, he was everywhere. He sort of goes under the radar but James Chester is so important to us, and I'd be surprised if a 'bigger' club doesn't come in for him in the summer
City fan gave banter to idiot steward who then started to offer city fan out Stewards pulling steward away but he broke free and went for city fan City fans tried to break it up .. Steward who caused it dragged away by stewards.... A couple of city fans lobbed out ( i think ) Never seen that before a hooligan steward starting trouble
I was making my way to collect our flag it happened in front of me... Steward should get a banning order
Clattenburg has always been a good one with us, even against the big clubs, more often than not he gets the calls right.
Actually yeah, I agree with that. Apart from Zaha who was a bit of a twat, the rest seemed to just get on with it. No drama queening at all. Was a good game all round really!
You got it in one - Meyler banned and Junior on the bench - no surprise we put in a great performance - back line much better, playing the ball out from the back rather than the usual Bruce hoofs although he did his best to give them a goal with a stupid header late on - Chester is pure class and it doesn't help when Brucie has him either on the bench or playing right back so that Junior can play in the centre - clear message from yesterday - keep Junior off the pitch!!! - much better in midfield with Quinn, more creativity and industry, why he ever picks Meyler is beyond me - more of the same please and we should pull away from the bottom three
The worst one from Bruce yesterday was the pass from the edge of the centre circle to Harper that was too short and he had to rush out to clear
Anybody notice how the players not at the game seemed very happy in Twitter with the result (Davies and Snodgrass). Normally you don't see anything from them so celebratory (or least we haven't in recent weeks). Good to see the players lobbying the fans.
