Remember this is almost the Windies second XI, the summer will judge the team's true status. Good to see Anderson in top form, we'll need him and Broad at their best...
3rd Test started at lunchtime, England win toss choose to bat, then collapse.......has a familiar ring to it. Trott out for his 3rd duck of the series, Bell also out for nowt.........crawl to 71-3 at lunch with Skip & Root the not out batsmen.......Ballance went for 18.
I can't see how they can get Trott to open against the Aussies, Johnson & co will just bounce him out.....
He has never been an opener, even when he was in top form. The management of this team is just bewildering.
Root gone now as well.....currently 112-4...... Regarding Trott, there are a couple of tests against NZ before the Aussies arrive, looks like Ballance has the no 3 spot nailed down so if Trott doesn't open where does he bat? Maybe he should go back to his county and get some confidence back.....
I really fear for Trott against the Aussies! Good recovery now from England. Ali has a 50 and Cook has 74 (can he get that elusive, long awaited Century?). 181-4 now.
Trott has had his chance. He's not up to opening and the middle order is settled. Lyth should get a chance v NZ. He's inexperienced, but the best opener in the CC last season so deserves his chance (who's better?). He scores quickly too - which England need at the top of the order.
After a final collapse for England, Windies 9-2, Jimmy 3 overs 0 runs 2 wickets Update Anderson 5 overs 4 maidens 2 runs 3 wickets, Windies 22-3 chasing 257.
Time to get shot of Trott? He goes for 9 lbw playing across his wicket .. again! Capt Cook (4) also goes cheaply, England are 17 - 2
