Bates Moves in Transfer Market

    It can be confirmed today that Ken Bates has in fact been very active in the transfer market, and although he has missed out on some players already, he is still pushing hard to get some players in. So, here is his action so far:

    Westwood - offered £2k per week, £25k signing on fee and £150 clean sheet bonus. Also offered to pay his petrol to get to Thorpe Arch for his medical - FAILED

    Pratley - £1.5k p/w; £10k signing and £50 goal bonus, plus a free subscription to the Leeds matchday programme - FAILED

    Kisnorbo - SIGNED!! One of the four "new" signings Grayson has been chasing...well, he is like a new signing, isn't he?

    Lichaj - £150k fee with a helicopter ride for Randy Lerner if he ever visits Monaco - FAILED

    Stockdale - swap deal with Bessone going to Fulham...thought that Jol would think Bessone is a class Argentine star!! - FAILED

    Lansbury - £200k and a book on how to deal with teenagers for Wenger...nice try!! - FAILED

    Rachubka - Grayson really wanted this one, a natural replacement for Schmeichel so it seems.....no other 'keeper on the horizon now so our new number one following in the footsteps of such greats as Harvey, Lukic, Martyn and erm....Schmeichel...quality!!

    Beckford - loand deal - this one was kept well quiet....offered to pay Becks' full salary and bonuses, plus an extra £2-million as a signing fee to Beckford and his agent....last words heard - "what shirt am I wearing Bruv?" - DEFINITELY FAILED

    Charlie Taylor - Leeds youngster given a three year deal....well, that's three of our four targets in the bag!!

    So, all in all at least Bates is trying his heart out for the Leeds. Now if only Grayson would REALLY push our nice Chairman for some lolly....we may yet sign some quality.

    Bates obviously needs a new strategy - why doesn't he revert back to the one that landed him a striker from Swindon?

    Take them to an all you can eat buffet and they're as good as yours <laugh>
