EDIT: Jeez you lot are quick - best price 8-1 now :(

Just seen that Western Hymm was running, archived him in my tracker and my notes said will be better on better ground. Backed him every run last year

Looking forward to the next at donny , as micks already mentioned subversive I will just say 8s is way to big and the drop back looks more suitable .wanting should transfer th all weather form for a r/f . I cant see the others getting close although I am tempted to throw the rank outsider danot in for the awtc .

Aftertime alert: It won't win <laugh> Looked to be hating the ground but what would I know

Got a free bet courtesy of Shakkis finishing second in the first - missing out the Trial and plumping for Waady in the 3-35 <ok>

Not commenting entirely out of my wallet, I think we can rip today’s Sandown results page out of the notebook as the false ground created by watering for tomorrow’s jumps card made the form worthless. Amazing how well the horses with soft ground form ran on going that was officially “good (good to firm places)”.

In the Classic Trial the front two in the betting were both done in by the false ground on the turn into the straight. The runner-up lost enough ground on the leader that he was unable to catch him in the last hundred yards when he finally got going.

Well done to those that have found winners there.

That race was always set up for Master Apprentice to steal it, doubt faster ground would have stopped him.

Jack Hobbs looked a beast, I think we may well have just seen the Derby winner there

Aidan Obrien has just stubbed out the cigar

JK, was impressive though, almost 2 1/2 seconds faster than the trial, although that was stolen from the front off a crawl. Group 2 horse at least you have to say.

I think he's much better than a G2 horse, on what was only his second run he looked an absolute tank.

Gosden will have left a lot to work on so expect him to be even fitter in the Dante and Epsom.

16/1 for the Derby looks a great price, I can't believe he is not favourite after that

Could be, but its hard to rate him more than 110-114 after that and its still a bit off Derby level, looks to have a lot of potential but would be getting a bit carried away to make him favourite for the Derby after winning a handicap off 85.

By 12 lengths having travelled widest of all, on only his second start. I think the bookies are really underestimating him, putting him up at 16/1, but only time will tell

It certainly looks a fair price, if he goes and wins the Dante in a canter then hes going to be near enough favourite. Ol Man River is already rated 114 and Elm Park 117 so he is not far away from the principles after that but they have not run yet and Obriens looked like it could improve at lot this season.

Early days but he definitely deserves to be near the front of the market, 10-12/1 is about right id say at this stage. The Guineas, Chester, Leopardstown and York trials all to come.

Just read he was faster than Western Hymn for the last 3f, but the overall time was 1/3 of a second slower, still impressive considering he was eased down!

That 16/1 might be worth snapping up.

That's very impressive Eddie, as I think the first 3 in Western Hyms race are all very good 4 year olds. He was only carrying a pound less than them aswell, and with the way he was eased down you have to think he could have beaten those 3 without the weight for age allowance, on only his second start. He is a proper horse
