It's all smoke and mirrors mate, Southampton gave us those players on a free because they had gangbanged the chairmans daughter and they wanted rid. We just had to pretend to pay them loads of money.

Did you really think we'd pay £50 million for Andy Carrol, that was a witness protection deal in conjunction with Newcastle Police, he's on the run form the Geordie mafia and has to hide out at different clubs until they forget about him.

Charlie Adams real name is Sheila Warren, she had to shave her head to be allowed to play football we just wanted to be the first to allow a woman player into the league. #nonsexistclub

The list of all the good we've done goes on and on. I'm not even going there with the Harry Kewell saga as it would endanger my family.

They've spent £240m gross and £200m net, more than Arsenal in the last 5 years, but of course they can't compete financially <doh>

Shteve, You don't know anything about "my club" you loony <laugh> OR your own it seems :D
Funny that you highlight that bit when the rest answers your post above<whistle>

"1 season doesn't cut it. What happened Spurs after their 1 season in there?

Sisu : You also need sustained CL qualification to sign the top players, cos if you've not got that, you need to do a city wages wise to tempt players like Aguero Toure Silva and pay ridiculously over the odds, with no CL that's kind of hard with no sheik, RA and now with FFP
    "

Ergo, we pay less wages than you lot, and can't get the top players because of failing to qualify for the CL and our wage structure without regular CL income means we cannot offer 250k a week to failures and just go meh when it's a flop.

You say "one of the biggest spenders" which is more hyperbole. Our biggest signing has been Randy Andy 35m and only because we got 50m for Torres, no Torres sale, no 35m for Andy. So our biggest signing cost less than Veron, who was yonks ago and not even your biggest fee anyways.

We have spent a lot but it has to be spread out to cover many positions unlike you lot who have RvP, Rooney Failcao for example, who's wages amount to the wages of what? half our squad <laugh> Chelsea City Ditto, only Arsenal are different but tell me what arsenal have won in a decade, but their CL qualification every year is an excpetion to the rule

You spend more on wages than any other PL club

And here's the clincher, Liverpool have what? the 5th highest wage bill in the PL? not exactly certain on that, and Liverpool are 5th <laugh>

You're going to have to show your workings on that one pal.

At the minute you've got Balotelli either scoring 9 goals (£16million fee plus £4million wages, assuming £100k a week for 40 weeks) which I'm sure he hasn't or you're under the impression that he signed on a free, which he didn't.

You've also got Falcao's wages in at £350k a week.

I think you rely on Astro a bit too much for your information!

The reality is Balotelli's goals have cost £10million each, whereas Falcao's have probably cost more like £4million each (£6million fee plus £10million wages if I assume an over inflated £250k a week for 40 weeks).

Both have been bad signings. One of them can be sent back to his parent club at the end of the season. The other one will have to be paid off to leave Liverpool!

No they're skint and can't compete with the big clubs. They have to settle on spending a measly £25million on Lalalalalala!

Always makes me laugh when Rodgers frequently talks this nonsense. I suppose in his world in which he is a tactical genius Liverpool are also a team battling the odds against the overspenders. Unfortunately for Rodgers the facts make him look a tit again.

  9. Maybe he's talking in terms of wages rather than transfer fees <whistle>

The plucky underdog who's only had a transfer budget of £217m to see him through 3 long seasons.....

.....and they got an injury you know.

De-railed their entire campaign, as they couldn't cover him......even though they'd bought a £16m striker on £100k per week as cover.........

    Poor old Brendan.

What does that even mean, is that meant to be wum? <laugh>

You paid 20m for failcao's services for 1 year, we payed 26 m for lallana over several years <doh>

You top the wage bill list, MORE THAN CITY <laugh> after spending 200m in the summer.

It is hard to compete with that with FFP and no regular CL

You're actually contracted to pay £25m plus another £25m in wages - so just the £50m over 5 long mediocre years

The only reason we were 2nd highest spenders last season was because we sold Suares for 75m, we only spent 45m out of our already existing funding.
Same with Carroll, we spent nothing from existing funds and actually profited 15m after selling Torres.

In terms of talking the financial capacity of the club to sign players, with no CL, that information is pretty relevant.

The fact Balo and Carroll were\are donkeys is a football matter not a financial one.

The way I see it if we can afford to spend £20M on Lovren then we have massive financial clout.

So, lets say you spend a tenner on a shovel, and you find £50 worth of silver in your garden with it, and sell it and add £30 of your own cash (all you can afford) to it and buy a hard disk.

Does that mean that you have that financial clout? Or does it mean normally you can only spend £30 but got lucky finding hte silver (Suarez turning out to be a 75m gem) ?

So, our spend would have been lower had we not got Suarez to sell, that's my point. No 20m on Lovren.

No 35m on Carroll either without the sale of Torres<ok>

it's funny with the wum of Shteve, who's been using the net spend argument for a decade when arguing with Chelsea fans<laugh>

Good to see that the minute Liverpool hit the **** you totally contradict your previous stance that on the pitch once the whistle is blown money doesn't count for ****e. Seemingly United's wage bill is very relevant when they leave you for dust <laugh>
