I disagree and agree. I said at the end of the window that I thought we'd had a very poor transfer campaign. However I also think we should keep the manager if we go down, I can't think of anyone realistic I'd rather have to get us promoted again.
I'm royally pissed off. Assem Allam told us that we have the best squad we have ever had and we were expecting to finish much higher up the league than last season because of it. He's a business man, he knows that spending lots of money on players always equates to better results.
I think we have a better squad on paper, injuries have caught us out at time. We have players that have under performed aswell as a manager that has failed to come up with a system/ style of play. He has also persisted in playing players out of position and has failed to solve our creativity problem. Whatever both players and manger must try harder next season
10 - Hernandez 8 - Livermore 8 - Snodgrass 3.5 - Maguire 2 - Ince 3.5 - Diame 3 - N'Doye 3 - Dawson I make that 41 million not including the money for Ben Arfa, so you're way off smart arse.
Being unlucky with injuries doesn't wash when you use your available players out of position anyway. We have had near enough a full squad for weeks now and we're still seeing these bullshit bodge job line ups with about three players playing where they should be. Also we did spend £40m (ish)
He'll no doubt say he's adjusted it cos of fees coming in but I agree with you, this is still what we've spent. If you go on a night out and spend £50 and then find a fiver on your way home you've still spent £50.
I agree and I dont actually think we have been unlucky with injuries. Maybe only Jelavic and Diame but every team loses it's best players from time to time. Snodgrass isnt one of those.
I expect he will, it's quite pathetic as he knew full well I was talking about money spent not including any income.
£5 for chips?! An even better way of putting it is if you went on a night out and spent £100 and your missus said "how much have you spent?" you cant say "nothing, cos my wages exceed the amount I've spent".
Our transfer spending this season has been £25m, that's a fact. £40m for players brought in and £15m back for players that we sold. If we hadn't sold Long, we wouldn't have bought Hernandez, so you can't ignore it. Not unless you're a complete ****ing moron.
Isn't net spend a better assessment of how much a team has been spending? If a team spent £100 million and sold players to the value of £100 million you can't really say they've been splashing out.
No it isn't. We spent 40 million regardless of what money came in, we still spent it and that's the discussion we were having. You're just desperate to be a smart arse.
My favourite post of the week Complete tosh. Buying good young players when you're financially in a position to do so is a brilliant strategy. It's all about building for the future, not just the present
Jelavic, Diame and Chester are core to our team and have all been injured for considerable amounts of time this season. Top clubs aside, squads cannot afford to lose those kinds of players without severe effects.
If you bought some naked photos of Leslie Ash for £800 but you sold your favourite Vespa for £400 to help fund it, how much have you spent on **** material?
