Steve Bruce says provisions have been made for relegation. Players would stand to take a "40 to 50 per cent" pay reduction if they go down.

With this in mind, you'd think the players would look rather more 'up for it' than they do currently.

They're nearly all capable of finding a new premier league club, they've not got a lot to worry about.

It's only the likes of Bruce, Macca, Quinn, Aluko who will probably struggle to find new premier league clubs, probably why fat steve keeps findig space for them in the team. The rest probably can't be arsed with fat steves whacky teams and tactics and threw in the towel.

It shows how far we've come. Previous relegations would have left the manager and players throwing in the trowel.

I'm not sure to what extent money is always a motivational factor. If someone, who is probably already loaded, is pissed off for one reason or another the prospect of dropping from 30k a week to 15 or 20 might not be enough to make them raise their game. Some of the lads might see less money but a regular start in the championship as a decent option, especially if they're getting on a bit (in footballing terms).

As Hat says, the probably think they can move on. How Tom is still so highly rated by media is baffling and he must be rubbing his hands at the prospect of inexplicably getting another Premier League club.

Also increased parachute payments should mean no financial meltdown this time. May even be in good enough shape to mount a promotion challenge next season!

With this in mind I expect nothing less than blood and thunder from the lads tomorrow.

Teams go up, teams go down. Good days, bad days.

    It's called football.

Why do people always blame our positiono n players putting in a lack of effort? Sometimes other teams are just better or our players aren't at their best, which I'm sure is the case for everyone on here in their jobs.

Totally agree. Every season 15% of Premier League teams get relegated and I can't imagine a situation when we're in that league that we won't at least be in with a shout of this happening. It's no big deal. When we were 9 points adrift (or whatever it was) at the bottom of the entire league ladder - now that was a big deal.

The point is 17 other teams shouldn't be better than us considering we've spent 40 million this season. What is it Steve Bruce always says? "The great thing about the owners is they let me manage"

If they knew anything about football they would have sacked him by now, but as I've said before, they put a lot of faith in the man, giving him everything he needed all the millions he told them he would spend on bringing in quality footballers.

He has let them and the club down big style, a club like ours to spend that sort of money is a huge thing and he knew that, but he has ****ed up massively.

Last season we stayed up after spending a fraction of what Norwich did. You can't have it both ways.

If all that mattered was the amount of money club's spend on players then the league table could be compiled in August and there'd be no need to play a 38
    game season.

Then why did Bruce feel the need to spend 40 million? Buying players like Maguire and Ince for the future, after staying up for one season you aren't in a position to be spending 3.5 million or whatever it was for Maguire who isn't going to play, pointless signings, spending money like it's nothing.

I don't know what point you're trying to make, after spending 40 million you would expect to have a better side, but thanks to Bruce we don't, we're worse.

How do you know we're worse than we were? Other teams bought players too, maybe they've just improved more than we have so we're finding it harder than last season.

Just in the name of accuracy, we've spent £25m this season.

£40m may buy you seemingly better individual players but then there is the small matter of blending them in to a team not to mention injuries, players settling etc.

    This.

Relegation clauses ensure the players leave should relegation occur, at least those on massive wages. The likes of McShane, Bruce, Rosenior wont find Premier League clubs.

I think that's a bit harsh. I don't seem to recall many in October complaining at the signings we made since the end of last season, quite the opposite.

Of course he has made mistakes, but I also think he has been incredibly unlucky this season with injuries.

If we do go down, I would certainly advocate keeping the manager, he has a proven track record at getting teams up from the Championship .
