I guess the difference is that the season after Ronnie left we missed out on the title by one point and went on to win it two out of the next three seasons after that (the season we didn't win it we came second on goal difference). Not bad for a one man team missing their one man!

The fact is, Suarez had a conversion rate no better than the league average until he was combined with Sturridge Sterling Coutinho. Then it took off

Rodgers brought in Sturridge and Cout in Jan 2013, and worked out a system for the attack that annihilated defences which worked well the following season.

So the fluke and one man team arguments are well and truly busted.

It's funny, us using Suarez ability to our best advantage was a bad thing it seems <laugh>

  4. Is that a similar style one man team to ours under Rafa? When Torres AND Gerrard were our "one man" and our downfall was Alonso leaving...?

So Suarez isn't a big miss then? That's quite damning for Brenda.

    Of course he isn't.

    Flanno on the other hand...

Of course he's a big miss, but he was not the Suarez he was until Studge and Coutinho were bought to play with him.

Same **** at barca, he has Messi and Neymar.

No man is an island in a team.

So I guess Balotelli and Lambert weren't great replacements for Suarez?

    What we know:

After his record-breaking spending and failure, Martinez would be sacked by any top 10 PL club

Fortunately, Everton aren't a top 10 club any more

There is no direct replacement for suarez is there. Just as there was no direct replacement for Ronaldo, as there is none for Messi.

If Chelsea sell hazard, it would be extremely if not impossible to replace him atm with someone as good.

But never mind that, Balo was just a really bad call. Fergie made them too.

    Balo 4 goals in a season. 16m Kagawa 6 goals and 6 assists in 4 years, 17m <whistle>

It's just hyperbole to claim Lambert was brought into replace Suarez cos it suits a banteresque argument. He was bought as a backup player for the PL cos of the CL campaign.

Same could be said for Rodgers. His team went very close to winning the title last season. He spent £100million in the summer but his team has declined dramatically. A top 4 team wouldn't stand for that and would sack the manager. Rodgers is safe though.

Good managers come up with a new plan and system when they lose key, influential players. Fergie did that several times at United, the last instance being when Ronaldo left. Rodgers has appeared clueless at times since Suarez left.

Fergie was managing for how long? How many CL campaigns PL campaigns by thart stage plus he was a brilliant manager, you are comparing him to Rodgers who in comparison is wet behind the ears and negating the fact that UNited had CL every single year, we've got problems because of lack of CL, it limits the players you can sign both for CL and financial reasons. It's a silly comparison if I am totally honest.

Not sure why you're comparing a striker with an attacking midfielder (maybe you don't understand the difference) but you won't find me looking for excuses for Kagawa. He's ****!

By the way, Kagawa was at United for two season (plus one game) not four!

I was actually expecting that reply,#predictable
You made the point Balo was a bad signing by Brod, Balo was a bad buy,but I wanted to point out that even Fergie can make **** signings. Just pointing out it happens, some just don't work out at all, Forlan<whistle>

Kagawa was bought to score goals and more importantly create assists. His 4 year spell turned out to be over £1m per goal and over £1m per assist. 6 and 6 over 4 years.
