Ok now we are pretty much safe who would we like to go for this season??? With Ruiz, Hugo and possibly Stekelenberg, Mitroglu all leaving it will free up a lot more wages and possibly bring in around £7/8 million in fees I would like to see us spend a bit of cash on quality on about five positions, full backs, a centre back with pace, a wide man and a defensive midfielder In Right Back - ? Left Back - Husband Centre Back - ? Centre Mid. - Mutch Wide - McClean Wide - Ince
I definitely agree with McClean and Husband coming in, both would be fairly cheap. I think Ince will either end up signing permanently for Derby or playing for Hull if they get relegated. Jordan Mutch would be a great signing. The one CM that I wanted us to sign last summer was Henri Lansbury. I'd love if we could get him. I think we're definitely going to be in the market for a keeper too. My shout would be Shay Given. Also would add Amorebieta to the departures along with some of the fringe players (Voser, Chihi, R. Williams, Mesca, Kiraly, Lee).
I do like Mark Davies of Bolton a centre mildfielder who wouldn't cost to much. I would love to get him and Mutch for a new Centre Midfield.
I've touted Eunan O'Kane before now as a central midfielder. Apparently he fell down the Bournemouth pecking order due to injury and is still part of Eddie Howe's plans, so it might not be as easy to get him as I had previously thought.
I'd like us to bring in a gk, Centre back and defensive midfielder around the 25-30 age group with good experience and some leadership, in all three. We've been a bit unlucky with injuries, particularly in the middle. Betts has been a good shot stopper but if we don't bring this experience in then I would prefer he was switched with a vocal goalkeeper who organises the defence. If Chelsea take a bite I'd let him go, he has potential but I don't think he is any better than Stockdale was. I'd be happy with husband staying and us bringing in a new right back with grimmer moving into the centre. I think Burn could be moved on. For the next season I really hope we play 4-3-3 - we just need one more winger and then our options would be Roberts, Kaca, Williams and new player. Betts; RB, Grimmer, CB, Husband; DM, LVC, Hyndman; Roberts, RW; Smith / Woodrow / Dembele / Taggart Ross isn't included, i like him and his goals have been vital but I would rather we move him on and develop a system than building around him - he could spot in as a winger or up front but would need positional discipline.
If we go by the 2 players for every position rule and I'm only including players I genuinely think will be around the first team so not including some youth players then we need a Goalkeeper, Right Back, Left Back, Centre Back, Defensive Midfielder, Centre Midfielder & Right Winger. GK: Bettinelli, New Player RB: Grimmer, New Player LB: Kavanagh, New Player (possibly 2) CB: Hutchinson, Bodurov CB: Burn, New Player RM: Roberts, New Player LM: Kaca, G. Williams DM: Parker, New Player CM: LVC, Tunnicliffe CM: Hyndman, New Player ST: Smith, Woodrow ST: McCormack, Dembele My suggestions would be: GK: Given, RB: ?, LB: Husband, CB: ?, DM: O'Kane, CM: Lansbury, RM: McClean.
Watching the Reading Arsenal game Nathan Chalobah for Reading on loan from Chelsea was quality in the middle of the park
Daily Mirror having a hey day, linking us with - Shaun Wright-Phillips (33) who is making a comeback for QPR in midfield Nathan Oduwa (19) midfielder who is on loan to Luton from Spurs
We are being linked with Celtic’s 26 year old Nigerian centre back Efe Ambrose. please log in to view this image The former Kaduna United and AS Ashdod of Israel centre back, who can also play at right back, joined Celtic in 2012, and has been a regular at Celtic Park, playing over 130 times for The Bhoys in almost three years at the club. However, this season, Ambrose has primarily been a backup to first choice centre back pairing Jason Denayer and Virgil van Dijk, though he has featured at right back after injuries to Adam Matthews and Mikael Lustig. Despite the possibility that van Dijk may move on this summer and Denayer will return to Manchester City at the end of his loan deal, the Daily Mail believes Ambrose has already decided to quit Celtic and seek first team action elsewhere
Good age and good experience. Does anyone know how pacy he is? That seems to be what is most needed to complement our current crop of centre backs.
Pretty fast for a CB, strong, athletic and good in the air. He likes to carry the ball out of the back which can lead him to trouble at times. Has a clanger in his locker but for the most part he's a very solid CB.
I know he got sent off in the 95 the minute but once again it sounds as if James McLean was Wigans best player and main attacking threat, I would love to get that deal done, with Wigan likely to drop we could probably get him for £1 mill which would be a great deal. On Efe Ambrose I remember watching him in the World Cup for Nigeria and he looked strong and pacey def what we need at the back!
Saw reports linking McClean to Newcastle in the summer. I agree he'd be great for us and exactly what we need but we'd likely face big competition for his signature.
If Mick McCarthy does take over in the summer I could definitely see it. He's a typical McCarthy type player.
We are reported as being interested in Ipswich midfielder Paul Anderson please log in to view this image The 26-year-old’s contract is up at the end of the season, although Ipswich have an option for a further year. He’s been in and out of their side this season; making 20 starts and 14 sub appearances, scoring one goal.
Man City say out on loan centre back Jason Denayer won't be going back on loan to Celtic as they want him to play in the Championship next year. I'm guessing there'll be a whole host of Championship clubs battling for his signature (already been capped at senior level for Belgium at 19 and has played European football for Celtic). We could do a lot worse and if we do end up selling Roberts to City (as the tabloids have been suggesting) we could use that as leverage to get Denayer. My number one choice would be Karim Rekik from City but he's surely out of our reach having started the past 2 seasons at CB for PSV. P.S. His name is pronounced deny-er. Think that's a great name for a centre half.
Fulham Ireland do you know if he is quick?? As I gave mentioned before I believe any of our current crop could be good solid centre halves if they okay alongside someone with a bit of pace!!!
