Sky Sports Update - The president of the United States Golf Association, Buddy Richman has said " If those European dudes keep calling my boy lefty then you kiss goodbye to The Ryder Cup"
President Obama is on standby in case the situation deteriorates further. A spokesman close to the affected player has expressed his appreciation for the messages of support from left handed left leaning people around the world. He stated "Phil has even had a message from Germany".

This is a political thread on a football forum. The only thing we have in common is supporting a team of well off / millionaires kicking a football around.
Do those advocating the Greens getting anywhere near power realise that their tax wishes, if implemented, would result in the decimation of our football team. None of them, homegrown or foreign would be willing to give 2/3rds of their salary to the taxman.
We might need Chris Iwelumo to fill in the gaps.

To be honest I cannot for the life of me imagine that the Greens will get anywhere near power. They were very hopeful that they would do well in the recent elections here, but disappeared almost without trace. We are threatened with loads of wind turbines in this area, and the party do not know if to support the plans because it could reduce the number of nuclear power stations, or to oppose them because of the environmental damage it will cause. The result is they do not wish to talk about the subject and will not commit either way. Maybe not pure politics, but practical politics.

I mentioned the Greens because they have been specific about a top rate of tax of 60% (plus NI) but hitting the higher earners is very popular with the left coalition SNP, plaid Cymru, Greens and Labour.

Harold Wilson tried it more spectacularly, it failed then and would fail again. It is much easier to up and leave to ply your trade in another more tax friendly country. Does Troy fancy getting a suntan in Spain?

The Greens will disappear without trace. They will be able to fit all of their MP's in a telephone box and still have room for Cyril Smith!!

Many wealthy people left France and moved over the border to a small town a mile into Belgium when Mr Hollande increased the tax rates. Their contribution to the revenue was not increased but totally lost. The theory that lower tax rates increase revenue still holds good.

When I lived in France in the late 90's the French government reduced TVA on repairs to some building repairs. It increased the tax take because more people paid legitimately instead of paying cash 'on the black'

Greens plans for Tax and NI increases will not just the rich. Those on middle incomes who pay the 40% tax band, would see a massive hike in NI contributions - which has been hidden away from the voters. All to pay for 1 million new public sector jobs - it would make Greece look like Wall Street

If elections go Labour-SNP way looks like it's time for a final relocation away from the UK. Our global corporate advisers are telling us its going to be a conservative minority government i.e. Cameron will be requested by HM to form a government, I hope they are right and not just telling business what we want to hear!! Add greens into the mix with their and SNP combined management of energy it would be the end for Scotland as an industrial nation in any form or indeed as a nation capable of supporting modern life.

    You'd rather have a Tory/UKIP/DUP coalition?

I'm moving back to France if that happens. I'm not living in a country run by Eton boys, racists and crazy people.

Even if you are an ardent Tory, I can't see how it's worth letting Farage's lot or the DUP get anywhere near power...

All this chat about the SNP or the Greens ruining this country is ridiculous.

I think their economic policies are clearly pipe dreams.... but a couple of green mps in parliament will ensure environmental issues are on the agenda...

    This is rather 'frightening':
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32336071

no clear winner... hopefully will lead to a more moderate Govt

... SNP will most likely play a big part in the next govt...... Labour will have to do some deal with them looking likely

The one thing which is not possible is for the politicians to say to the electorate that their mandate is too complicated ! The days when parties in Britain could command the support of 40%+ of the electorate are gone and it is possible that Britain will never again see a 'majority' government (even without PR). So, welcome to the normal 'mainstream' of European politics - because the only countries which still have majority governments are Russia and Belarus. Every other European country has a coalition government. Where coalition governments are the norm ie. almost everywhere, electors know that what they don't get from one party they can get from another - and so you have things like cross voting. You also have parties (like the Greens) going into elections with a clear separation of policies which are 'negotiable`and those which are not - bearing in mind which party they go into coalition with. The British have to get used to coalition politics quickly because that is the shape of the future.

If the SNP run riot in Westminster, as they are threatening to do, it will lead to a break up of the union within a few years. The outcome of this will lead to a strong Conservative government which will become the norm. Coalition government is not good for the UK. It leads to wishy washy nothing gets done inertia.

If you move back to France you will need private medical insurance as you will not be covered by the state unless you are at retirement age. Hopefully you will not require a job as there are none. The socialists in France will be chucked out at the next election so maybe you will have to go further east to find a lefty bunch.

Perhaps we can have a whip round for your ferry ticket.

Just like the Tories at the moment you are concentrating your argument upon scaremongering (perhaps because of the lack of valid arguments) ie. the possibility of SNP mayhem. Firstly if the opinion polls are to be believed then Labour will have the most seats and will be able to form a government with a middle left alliance ie. with the Liberals, Greens, SDLP and Plaid Cymru - thus being able to avoid the SNP - really the labour party has many options open and if they say that they will not go in with the SNP then it is as believable as Cameron saying he will not cooperate with UKIP. If coalition government does not work in Britain does this reflect upon 'coalition' or upon the immaturity of British politics - nearly all European States have coalitions, including Germany, which has the most surprising of all ie CDU and SPD (the equivalent of a Tory-Labour coalition.) Truly I will be very surprised to see the Conservative party surviving the next 5 years without splitting in 2, let alone ever having a majority. They failed to get a majority last time despite Labour having its second worst result since the War - those days are over (thankfully).

As the election nears people will realise the solid job the tories, with a little help from the libs, did to rescue the UK from the mess inflicted on us by the last incompetent labour government. Who could seriously vote for Milliband and Balls?
The tories did so well even my football team is on the verge of greatness!!
