Michu is heading for fitness and could return to Swansea City, reckons pal Jordi Amat MICHU is on course to regain full fitness and could return to Swansea City colours next season. That is the verdict of fellow countryman Jordi Amat, who remains in contact with his former Swansea team-mate. Michu has endured another injury-plagued season since joining Napoli on loan last summer, making just five appearances for the Italian giants. And with Napoli not expected to push through a permanent move for Michu when his loan deals ends next month, the 29-year-old looks set to return to the Liberty. Michu is under contract at Swansea until 2016, and how Garry Monk deals with his situation is likely to be one of the storylines of the upcoming close season. The Swansea boss is planning talks with Michu when the current campaign ends — and Amat has fingers crossed they will result in his friend heading back to Wales. "I spoke to Michu a few weeks ago, he said the recovery was going well," Amat revealed. "I hope that continues and it's all fine for him so he can come back stronger for next season. "I don't know what will happen with his situation, but I hope if it's possible he can help us. "He was a star here, playing so well. He was unlucky with injuries but he's still a good player and if he's fit we'd be happy to see him again." Michu netted 22 goals in his first Swansea season to make himself one of the stars of the Premier League. He was capped by Spain early in his second campaign at the Liberty, but soon succumbed to the ankle problems which are still troubling him now. Michu wanted to leave Swansea last year, but Amat reckons the former Rayo Vallecano man could now be keen to come back. He added: "I think so — but it's not my decision. "I'm sure he and the gaffer will talk in the summer and see what happens. "I don't know. "I just hope he gets back fit first. If he stays then we will see what happens." Think Rangel & Amat could help bring Michu back into the squad and smooth out the issues that were clearly present before his departure? I for one hope so. I think the current tactic we are employing would suit (a fit) Michu very well.
Indeed, and it's why I hope Monk continues with 4-3-2-1 as our main formation once we strengthen, and get our injured players back....
Whatever we think of the diamond it worked wonders in terms of results. We have now got 3 different formations effective in getting us points so credit to Monk on creating a plan a,b and c.
By the way I've said before that what Monk is doing is simply employing to a greater degree Laudrops approach, but we sacrifice far more possession and pressing in games as a down side, it's okay against teams that are not likely to hurt you with all that extra possession we give away, but get it wrong like Liecester, and it can be deadly, also in my view Monk is not good at switching when needed in the middle of games, if his 4-4-2 isn't working. Laudrop was the manager that started the more direct push, and under Laudrop we had less possession than Rodgers, Laudrop still played a 4-3-2-1 though, and while there are varying versions, I think it's best I give you a link which explains some of the tactics and how we have evolved from the Rodgers game, where possession was everything, it's a good read..............
