I think custody or bail is something the magistrates decide.

Shame the CPS don't show the same gumption when it comes to prosecuting politicians

    Innocent until proven guilty

the entire justice system is built on this premise. Those who judge him now are idiots.

Like that father who was accused of child abuse and being part of a cult. charged, but then it turned out it was his ex wife and her new boyfirend coherced the kids into making false claims by beating them (physically and mentally) and making their lives hell until the kids broke under the strain and accused the dad.

The dad is still receiving death threats even though the case was dismissed and he was proven innocent of all charges.

He has been charged, which means it will now go to court. The court will then decide if he is innocent or guilty. I will reserve any judgement of him until after that stage.

Or gangs of foreign child sex-worker traffickers that they've been tipped off about, for years. <ok>

The rule is, they can't just go barging in on heresay alone.

They won't have remanded him and if they did it would have said.

Gerry Wareham, CPS Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North East, said: "Following an investigation by Durham Police, I have today authorised police to charge Adam Johnson, aged 27, with four offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

"We have reviewed the available evidence in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and concluded that there is a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to charge Adam Johnson with one offence of meeting a child following sexual grooming, contrary to Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and three offences of sexual activity with a child, contrary to Section 9 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

"May I remind all concerned that the defendant has a right to a fair trial.

"It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings. I would also remind people that the complainant in this case is entitled to lifelong anonymity under the law."

    Bit harsh Dan

    OJ-Simpson was proved innocent.

Ian Huntley was innocent for a while as well, before he was sent to the slammer.

I think it's perfectly acceptable for people to chat based on the intel they've been given, nobody is making stuff up.

  10. You'd hope, for Johnson's sake, that he's been remanded in custody. Do you chaps remember, about 10 years ago, the story in all the papers about that mob on some scummy housing estate in Middlesbrough who lynched a paedeotrician because they got the word confused with "*****phile"? If people up in that neck of the woods are prepared to lynch an innocent, God-fearing doctor because they ****-wittedly yet mistakenly believed him to be a kiddy-fiddler, what the **** are they going to do to Johnson!

Just wondered what your thoughts are on that one, lads?

    Fair enough.

Not a danger to society then? Maybe he's gonna be under house arrest.

I'm sure all the lovely inmates would give him the benefit of the doubt <ok>

  13. Indeed, Typically Juan! I doubt that Johnson will be invited to join the inmates' first XI.

Seems you're making a slant against the North East in general there mate. If you want to increase your chances of getting mugged, "lyched", knifed etc then the place to go is London. <ok>

Seems perfectly clear he isn't under any kind of arrest given the pictures show him strolling out with his lawyer.

Although it would be way more cost effective to go first class Emirates to Brazil and start pissing on Christ The Redeemer, than to go to London for a day.

Not certain but I thought that was somewhere in Wales.

Not that it matters. Stupidity is not reserved for any one particular part of the country.

Bit shocked the club haven't released a statement yet regarding this, I'd have thought they'd have him on club suspension again until he goes to court and this is all over one way or the other.
