No, most Newcastle fans have managed to convince themselves that Nolan isn't good enough for the team and that he only left because he knew he wouldn't have a place in the first team next season
No, we know he wasnt worth more than 50k a week and had, at most, 2 good seasons left in him. We dont begrudge him accepting a 55 k a week 5 year contract elsewhere. When it comes to having Nolan or Ben Arfa playing in the hole there is only going to be one winner.
The man who's scored 10 goals in his last 67 top flight appearances or the man who's scored 12 in his last 30 appearances, in an inferior side for most of the time may I add.
You see Nolan played last season as a glorified supporting striker, while he was officially playing in midfield the reality was different. He was always playing off the target man or poaching in the box, his goals were the good aspect of his game, however his workrate is another story. No tracking back, zero movement into space during counter attacks. He basically sat there and waited. That was fine as the side was lacking a decent striker who could regularly step up to the plate so Nolan's goals were needed. Now we seem to be on the recruitment drive for strikers, Ba is signed and the club is pursuing the likes of Erding. When we have regularly scoring strikers then the AM goals are less important so we will be looking one who offers more, great vision for space, pace, ability to beat a man (and how), and assists (Ben Arfa's assists virtually made Benzema). Nolan did a great service to the club and the fans are ever greatful. We would have liked him to stay on but his terms were unrealistic. He also held a disproportionate amount of dressing room control which was fine for the seige mentality days but ultimately makes it impossible for the manager to get his plan across.
I have found the Newcastle fans a friendly bunch of chaps not at all like some of the ruffians who post on here I would be be grateful for some rep for my post
In his last 46 games in the top flight, Demba Ba has scored 18 goals. A goal every 2 and a half games, hardly prolific. Erdinc is better but Djibril Cisse was prolific in the French league, he wasn't so good here, and he wants to stay at PSG anwyay, so I doubt you'll get him and with the prices Ashley is willing to pay there aren't many proven goalscorers on the market for that price. To say Benzema was virtually made by Ben Arfa's assists is ridiculous. 07-08 Benzema scored 20 league goals, Ben Arfa had 4 assists. Ben Arfa is a player who's flattered to deceive all his career, he's never been made No.10 at a club for a reason, similar to Joe Cole he's always been shifted out on the wing because he doesn't have the end product or creativity to play in the hole. For Newcastle to put all their hopes on Ben Arfa is rather crazy, especially as he is an erratic player who drifts in an out of games. I think this dressing room stuff has been blown out of proportion, Nolan was well respected within the squad which meant when he talked, people listened. That doesn't mean that he had too much power though, if you ask Hughton he could'nt have got Newcastle back up without Nolan, Barton and Co. trying to bring the dressing room together and succesfully uniting them.
I find it hilarious that we affect your lives so much you just feel the need to talk about us all the time. It's like unintentional attention, all the time Oh, and Shameless, I'm so sorry that I'm below your required age restriction and am actually still in education I wasn't sure you had to be of a certain age in order to have a respected opinion. I'm so sorry I go to uni. Shall I leave and work in Maccy D's and then quit and collect JSA for the rest of my life you love us really Just ask VE. edit; and as for the expected neg rep - man up and leave your name next time yeah? I thought that was the rule on this board? I bet it was someone who usually laughs at other NUFC fans leaving them neg rep and moans at how 'pathetic' it is. Boo hoo hoo. Hypocrites.
Nolan as an athlete was already struggling in the prem and was showing signs of getting worse. He wanted a five year deal the club only wanted to offer three. Nolan had another offer and wanted to take it and we were happy to let him go. It was a good decision and we are happy with it. He is still a well respected player by the fans and we wish him the best of luck. As for the OP he came onto the Toon board looking for a fight, you can see that by how quickly he went onto the attack after a harmless response. He then runs back here and cries like a little girl and some saps sympathise with him. I think somebody didn't get enough attention as a child. Really quite pathetic.
That happened with the invasion thread. Some precious wee gimp took exception to me creating an account on a mental health forum. <Insane>
And you're a boring ****ing **** Even more boring than Dev and ST and thats saying something (no offence lads, just referring to the "who's more boring" thread)
