Flawed methodology. The Lord Ashcroft poll where the name of the incumbent LD candidate was mentioned showed a swing of just 4%. I believe he is actually a UKIP supporter.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/32353364 Young child asks Nicola sturgeon 'why do politicians always dodge questions?' Nicolas answer ' I get frustrated when I see that too so I try not to do that myself.' Expertly dodged. No idea given as to why politicians might resort to question dodging. Just a completely fluffy hollow promise to vaguely try and do something. Excellent.
Heres an idea to make politics more transparent. A weekly open question session. Any member of public may attend (It may have to be a first come first serve thing, once you've been once you have to wait until next year to attend, something like that) and everyone just gets to grill the main party leaders on any question they like. Have them always required to answer the questions directly, with as much knowledge as they have of the situation in question. Like a debate but with far less vetting of the questions so real people can get their real questions answered in an open manner and transparent manner. Or we just hook them all up to lie detectors that when it detects a lie, triggers a trapdoor into the vat of sharks beneath them.
Just 2 simple questions. a) Why has this belief that Labour bankrupted the Nation been allowed to stick. Their proposed spending plans were supported in Parliament by both the Tories and Lib Dems and the crash, when it came, was a worldwide crash caused by the actions of big banks. Why is it that the crash in the Eurozone, USA, China etc etc was the result of a worldwide recession caused by the banks but in the UK it was caused by the Labour Government? b) To form the next Government Labour has to have an outright majority or be asked to form a Government because they have the most seats. The Nationalist parties and the Greens all say they want a Labour Government - why are they then trying to win seats off Labour?
More seats = more power/influence (& greater reputation) Particularly when there's a chance of being part of a coalition government. Better to be part of a rainbow coalition, than not in government at all.
The actual result scares me, as I feel we are indeed going to end up with a rainbow coalition and the 'wicked witch of the North - aka Nicola Sturgeon will do everything in her (and the other SNP MPs) power to bring a vote of no confidence in whoever is in power and so trigger a period of mayhem. If you're planning a foreign holiday later this year, I'd advise getting your foreign currency early.
But how are they going to get in a coalition government if they take seats off Labour and leave the Tories with the most seats?
Don't understand why she would want to bring down a Labour Government. If, as the polls suggest, she is convincing Labour voters to vote SNP because the SNP would only try and bring down a Tory Government how would she keep those voters on her side if she brought down a Labour Government and caused another general election? Surely this puts Labour in a fairly strong position. They have not got to enter in a coalition or any formal or informal agreement with the SNP in the knowledge that the SNP daren't bring them down. The only problem Labour face is getting enough seats to end up the biggest party if the SNP win lots of seats off them in Scotland.
At present the Tories have 46 more seats than Labour. If Labour lose 30 North of the border then are they going to make up the overall deficit by gains in England?
That's what Labour are banking on, yep - gains from both Tories and LibDems south of the border. Whether it'll actually happen is another matter.
In a way I wouldn't really mind a Labour/SNP Government. After 5 years they will be totally unelectable having betrayed voters in both main Countries. They will be completely out of the game for at least a decade to come! Mind you they will pretty much have destroyed the Country by 2020.
From the Institute of Fiscal Studies please log in to view this image So basically, in terms of overall economic plan, we're screwed whoever we vote for. So, let's instead talk about the Bedroom Tax, Food Banks, and ridiculous proposals to inflate the already bloated housing bubble, eh?
Is spouting unfounded, scaremongering right-wing propaganda crap all you have to offer in any of these debates? You go beyond boring and take it to completely new level without ever having anything new or interesting to say. Are you Grant Shapps under one of his many pseudonyms by any chance?
