My sky box is on wifi My TV isn't on anything The Ethernet cable is in TV corner Wouldn't I just plug Ethernet cable into this mystical new box and then HDMI from now to TV ? ( you can see why I haven't bothered before!)
Right I see. If you can get your Ethernet cable to mystical new box then that would work. Then a Hdmi from box to Tv. Sorted. The mystical box has wifi aswell, so would run just like your sky box. ( I didn't say that as I wrongly assumed you had hard wired Internet to your sky box. )
Thanks Mystical new language is beginning to make sense! ( the sky wifi seems a bit **** to me but its a long way from router hence the Ethernet from router to TV area.... I just haven't plugged it into anything yet )
No probs. yeah the Ethernet cable will be faster. My internet speed is pretty ****e, but I can easily watch an HD film with no stuttering/buffering.
You could get yourself now tv for Game of Thrones and the like. Only about £6 a month for the entertainment package. Of course, if it's the principle of not giving your money to Murdoch, then this isn't an option.
I cancelled mine last week, could have made the same rant myself! I get a lot more value out of BT Sport which has the Bundesliga and Serie A, plus all the European games, I like the womens football too, its a pure game without the cheating and general twats you find playing in the mens game. I had a go with Kodi, my mate reckons its good but I prefer just to watch streams on Linux direct from the sites. Sky did me over last month, I got multiroom so I can watch stuff in peace by myself, at the time I clarified what the cost was- this month I find they added an additional 9 pound on which they never mentioned, that was it for me. Don't mind the odd episode of Game of Thrones and so on so keeping the family package.
I got rid of Sky in January and bought an Openbox v8s and a 6months sky subscription for the full package. Sports, movies, etc. Total cost, £50. £40 for the box and £10 for the Sky for 6 months. Works a treat.
I have managed to accidently hit the language button, does anyone know how to switch back to English as everything is now showing in Gobbledeegook.
Exactly my sentiments, I used to know a senior person in their head office marketing department who told me some of their tricks and how much profit thye make out of each subscriber!
This thread is sensational. Reading it is better than having Sky, Netflix and BT sport altogether, combined into one Überpackage. And all without paying for a HDMI Ethernet ready flange bracket knobhead box!!!!!! I can't wait for the next post. I really can't. I'm dripping with excited anticipation. This must be what Dickens's readers felt like waiting for the boat to arrive. Post someone! Post!
I looked at doing the same recently, but I reckon I'd need to up my Internet package from the basic one I'm on, and that looked at costing me more than I can get the Sky package down to. What sort of Internet allowance would I need for one of these things?
You'd want unlimited. An upload speed of 80-100kbps should be able to handle most streams, may suffer a bit on 1080p but you won't find many streams in that resolution anyway.
That's what I thought. As I'd only be upgrading to get the tv package, it's more expensive than Sky for me.
Open box! That's what I was going to do, but I tried to look into it and it was gobbledygook Is there a simple explanation anywhere? And where would a chap buy such a thing?
Bargain and cheap entertainment. imo. You cannot have a good night out on what it costs per month anymore. VFM.
It's fairly simple, there's a bloke called george agdgdgwengo, just email him your name, address, bank account details and sort code number, he'll take a payment to release the prize moneys and send you your gear.
