Yep. If we win we still need two others to fail to win. A win for us and a draw for Middlesbrough and Norwich (or a defeat for Bournemouth) puts us up all but mathematically. Middlesbrough's goal difference is so much worse that they have to get more points than us.
But I don't think that is going to happen. Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Norwich will all win. It is up to us to make sure we do too, which won't be easy.
Most of the top teams win 60 % of there games draw 25% lose 15% approx so with the top 4 having 8 games left the odds say that 2 games will not be won by the top sides lets just make sure we beat Brighton
Love it Just needs to make sure we win..... I have looked at all the maths.. and it really is in our hands..... if we do draw one we still can get automatic but it does depend on the others doing something similar
I need a top two finish, my nerves won't take play-offs, despite the possibility of a day out at Wembley. First, I don't need the potential family strife involved if we came up against ITFC. Second, I wouldn't have to make the decision of whether to put my poor body through another Wembley trip. It was great two years ago, the sun shone and I got to see GFZ's team that I'd been reading about all season, though they didn't quite turn up. Wenbley is brilliant for wheelchairs. But two years on I'm struggling more. Champions will do me nicely, thank you.
Given it's the Championship, that so much rests on it and that players and crowds will be on edge I suspect anything could happen. I hope it's straightforward for us and that 'expect the unexpected' doesn't prove wise advice.
Would it be poor form to suggest that, for us, winning 2 such crucial games in a row in a straightforward manner would be pretty unexpected?
I don't know if it is just me but I feel we are taking a much more cautious view of our last couple of games than we did two years ago - the Leeds result came as a shock as I really thought we would win but this time I feel each game is equally difficult and that we are approaching them in a very measured way.
You are correct; we are much more circumspect and in fact when we went a goal up we then held an extra defender back when attacking to make sure of no silly mistakes. I think controlled flair would be a good description.
The initial parts of this report are confusing but it is worth a read, if only for the bad puns. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/anthony-vickers-boro-can-hit-9087482?
Yes an interesting read... and of course no one is a clear position..... we are in the best..... just win the last two and be champions
