There is no love lost between Conservative and Liberal neither of them wants to form a coalition government
together in the next parliament. This would probably give Labour an edge over conservative if Liberal can win as much seats
    as SNP.

The liberals are going to be annihilated at the election mate, they sold 2/3 rds of their voters down the swanny last time out, when they jumped into bed with the Tories. It gained Clegg his much craved moment of power, but it also ended his party as a credible choice for the majority of its core support. It'll take them a generation to come back from that decision

Cons start cuts at the bottom and very slowly work their way to the top, Labour start at the top and work their way down.

Depends where you stand in society based on income I suppose.

That's one way of looking at it ;)

    My simplistic view is:

The Tories are ruled by the heads more than their hearts. They are therefore able to take tough decisons irrespective of who they hurt including the poorest and most vulnerable. The objective or final result is all.

Labour are ruled by their hearts more than their heads. So they would help the poorest and most vulnerable. This could lead to these being helped but they find the tough decisons difficult to take and they lose the bigger picture and overall outcome.

I still find it bizarre that labour went with ed and not his brother - the former is polling well below his own party!

The middle ground is crying out to be taken: Cameron is about as far left as his backbenchers will allow him, but still not centrist enough, and Ed is too left wing for most people: increasing welfare spending won't really drive our economy - and ultimately it's about growing the size of the pie, not the size of the slices taken from the pie...

Either way, I think it would be a sham if the SNP formed part of the coalition when they only represent the interests of one nation, and not the whole country - how is that fair?

I think it is quite logical if you think about it. If you were a Scottish voter and you think that your MP should only represent your interests, that of your constituency, and that of your nation (Scotland), then who will you vote for irrespective of whether you want independence or not? The other parties Labour Liberals and Tories have to think and look at the bigger picture. Your MP if one of those will be one voice against others from other nations (Wales/England). Your SNP MP at Westminster will just to think about the interests of Scotland. Remember that most of the local important decisions (health/education) are taken by the Scottish parliament.

I am surprised the Welsh have not done the same and support Plaid Cymru more.

I don't think the Welsh are as nationalist as the Scots, which is probably why. Anecdotally I would suggest the Welsh see themselves as being more British than the Scots do.

You should always vote mate, even if you go and tick a vote for no one! There are plenty of protest parties you could go for if you're sick of the status quo (like UKIP, although I think they're completely hollow at heart and their only I'm-a-regular-man-who-enjoys-a-pint card has been overplayed)

The below sums up my view of the matter...

While walking down the street one day a Member of Parliament is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
Welcome to Heaven,' says St. Peter.

'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in Heaven,' says the MP.
'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he went down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he found himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and dressed in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They played a friendly game of golf and then dined on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it's time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and wave whilst the elevator rises....

The elevator rises and the door opens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit Heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in Heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down and so on down to hell.

When the doors open he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. ' I don't understand,' stammers the MP.

'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened? '

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, ' Yesterday we were campaigning..

    Today you voted.

I remember the reaction in London when Brown raised taxes for the high earners, there was nothing but threats to take their businesses out of the country.

The truth is the wealthy use the economy as a weapon to threaten against increasing taxes on them, same for closing loopholes for corproations.

Now we can see why there will never be real change no matter who is in power because economics is an extremely potent lever.

The US is a good example, in recent years over 10.000 corporations left the US, they have fled in droves since Obama got into power. Corporate tax of 35%, they won't like that I can tell you as well as many of Obama's tax reforms

At his last state of th eunion address, you can see the attendees standing and cheering, but behind him you can see the rich ****ers sitting, motionless.

That's supposedly the philosophy. In reality they both just work for the rich. Labour would bankrupt this country to death and we'd end up like Greece.

I don't like the conservatives either hence the no vote but at least their policy isnt spend spend , spend some more lets keep spending.

We just need a party with a bit of backbone to take on the big corps and all these non doms

Why are we taken in by politicians all the time?

They won't answer any pertinent questions. They deflect. They provide answers to questions that had not been asked. They don't carry out their promises when in power.

Yet people believe somehow this time it will be different. It is like the constantly cheating partner reassuring their other half that this time things will be better/different. :)
