With the announcement today that their season tickets for Premier League football at the Olympic stadium will be priced at only £295. Their current price at Upton Park is a staggering £630, but the Porn Kings can justify the price cut with a new 60,000 stadium to fill because of the newSky TV deal. To my mind this massively ups the ante for Duchatelet and his useless acolytes next season. We all know that we have a history of fair weather plastic fans attracted by Premier League football. Why pay £410 to sit in the East Stand to watch Rotherham, when you can see Man Utd for over £100 a season less ? The Olympic Stadium is a very short tube ride from the Valley and there is no doubt in my mind we will lose fans to West Ham unless we go up next season. Time for Douche to ****, or get off the pot.
I still don't agree with the decision to allow West Ham to move to the Olympic Stadium. As Royston states it will put a lot of pressure on us to compete with a Premiership Club, effectively on our doorstep, and offering rock bottom Season ticket prices. The hardcore Charlton support will remain but how do we attract new fans when we are a mid table Championship Club? The only way is to try to push on to the Premiership. This will require some reasonable investment and also retention of our best players. The Summer will tell us a lot about RDs intentions.
I'd rather pay 10k per season to watch Charlton in the Ryman League than sit with a bunch of Wet Spammers. I have one thing to say to 'fans' looking to migrate north of the river: go **** yourselves!
Think we lost the plastic fans when we left the Prem, i would hope this would not make any change for us If not then i agree with Ponders
I've got a good feeling for West Ham to really struggle once Allardyce is dumped unless they spend big, to the point of being in the thick of a 6 to 8 team relegation struggle next season. It would be fantastic to see West Ham in the Championship in the Olympic Stadium, playing the West Ham way of course. When does a teams reputation change? For all of my lifetime the West Ham way has been mediocre long ball with midfielders like John Moncur or Mark Noble who are very good at passing sideways; nothing like the supposed reputation for good football which probably ended sometime after Trevor Brooking and the 84 Final. Yet Leeds United, whenever they play, are still a dirty dirty side like the one that Don Revie is famous for.
Agree with Ponders. But Royston why compare the dearest seat at The Valley against the cheapest seat at the Olympic stadium ? We have plenty of season tickets available at far less than £295.
