I don't think we've been told the full story of his fitness, just little vague hints that he's not fully fit. In that regard I can't think of anything that would explain what's happened to his first touch. It's mystifying, but the bottom line is that defenders handle him easily now. He did win the penalty, but if the goalie hadn't fouled him he didn't look like scoring.

The number of games Vetokele will have played from 2011-2014 is maybe about 90 in all competitions, averaging about 30 a season. In all competitions for Charlton he will have easily surpassed that by maybe about 15 games. If you then take into account the higher intensity of a better league, it is unsurprising Vetokeles form has dropped. Hopefully he will come back fitter stronger and sharper after his first season with a better understanding of what is required of his body over such a gruelling season.

Good way of looking at it. He also did a bit of travelling in the early part of the season when carrying his initial knock.

Even if he comes back to form we'll still need another striker if we want to improve next season. Pigott hasn't done enough at Southend to suggest he could move up a level or two and KAG will probably be OK as the 4th striker. I'm assuming Church's contract won't be renewed.

I think KAG could do with a season out on loan - try and get 30 games under his belt and hopefully a healthy goal return.

I agree with Super, KAG would benefit from playing against big hairy arsed defenders in Div1 or Div2. I feel we need two centre forwards, a target man and a quicker forward who can play off him.

Realistically though, if we're going to hang on to our best players this summer it's unlikely that Roland will splash out the sort of money needed to buy two good Championship strikers, considering that his aim is to break even, and we're running at a loss of, what is it, about £6-7m? And selling any of our best players would be a sore loss to our first team, as we saw on saturday when Gudmundsson was rested for the first half. I think the best we can expect is to pick up a loanee from somewhere and have Pig or KAG as 4th striker.

It all depends on how much RD wants to push the boat out to give us a fighting chance of the Play Offs next Season. The person who would know his plans would be Reams.:emoticon-0109-kiss:

Sadly Reams was briefed by Katrien on future club plans under "Chatham House rules", so we can't expect much info from that source. I would be happy if we sold Vetekole this summer providing the money was invested in 2 proper Championship standard strikers. It was interesting to see the comments of little Neil Harris after Millwall's latest defeat last night. Rhodes and Gestede have scored more goals in the Championship this season than the entire Millwall squad :) Unfortunately Igor thought our season ended last October.

Igor's potential value must have gone down a lot since then. I can't imagine any scout being too impressed by his performance levels.

No and he does need someone to play off, I always thought someone like Chris Wood would be ideal.
