My plank comment was aimed at his decision to complain so publicly - he's left himself open to a touchline ban from the FL, and added pressure on his players at a time when that is the last thing they need. Mind you, that's no bad thing for us...

Mourinho is certainly viewed as persistently one-eyed, especially in terms of how many penalties are awarded to other clubs - in particular Man Utd. If Bournemouth do go up this season, they may well become the focus of his ire - the number of penalties Bournemouth have been awarded in the last two seasons exceeds Man Utd's total for the last four. God alone knows what Mourinho will make of that.

Morning all, it is just like summer outside, so the windows and doors are open to give the old house a bit of an airing.

Today is a big one for my eleven year old grand daughter. She has always suffered from a severe milk allergy and in the UK they said she would have to learn to live with it. Moving to France three years ago she found that they had a different approach with a program designed to very slowly introduce someone to milk in tiny quantities. Today she has to spend the whole day in the hospital at Poitiers where they will test her reaction to boiled milk, but under close supervision as she could go into shock. It would make life very much better if they can get her used to it, so fingers crossed for her.

Reaction to food is strange. One of Little Aks friends had problems with eggs and she has grown through it and there is no problem with eggs now, she has to get her other health problems mended. OFH I hope your grand daughter has a good response to her tests, could it be a problem with things put into the milk in England and not France and her body sees the complete liquid as one thing and not a collection of many?

I think that there is a different attitude to medicine here ak. A friend had a hip problem that the NHS said they couldn't treat. The doctor here said that was wrong and within two months she had had the first operation with a second one three months later. She couldn't believe that she could have life without pain, something she had suffered from for over twenty years. Asthma sufferers get a much stronger inhaler than the ones supplied in England and notice how much longer they provide relief. The program to cure people of food allergies has been developed here over a long period of time. They started with nut problems successfully, and have since used the knowledge to go onto other things.

Interesting that even the tiniest French village seems to have a pharmacy...subsidised I presume.

Actually Theo a lot of them have closed down over the past couple of years. There were two in our nearest village, but they joined together, saving on the local taxes by just having the one shop. Today my wife had to visit the doctor who wants to give her a check up before issuing a new prescription. She had been using some pills bought in England to combat a hay fever type complaint caused by all the tree blossom. The doctor said she could buy the same thing here over the counter, but wrote it down along with her usual items so she could have 65% knocked off the cost. It is the willingness of the doctors to prescribe medicines that keeps the pharmacies afloat.

I didn't know that, OFH....the green neon cross always seemed ubiquitous. Are prescriptions for the over 65s free in France, as they are here?

If I had to pay for mine it would cost me more than a week's rent, I have type 2 diabetes, IBS, a crumbling back and permanent nerve damage caused by an infected mosquito bite about 5 years ago! <yikes>

Dave you wouldn't have to pay anything in France because with the diabetes which is considered to be an on going illness you would be exempt. Apart from conditions such as this, cancer and heart complaints are others, we all contributes unless you are poor enough to qualify for free treatment. It is very administration heavy, but it keeps many people employed.

Yes, I was exempt here from the moment I was diagnosed, I had to apply for an exemption certificate every five years until I was 60! <ok>
