This notion that the Tories exist solely to help rich people is utter bollocks. They don't get millions of ordinary people's votes for that.

As for tax, the top 1% of earners still pay over 25% of the total income taxes collected.

Trouble with our elections is that half of what we're told is blatant propaganda.

I'm not saying they should feel guilty I'm just saying a tax break isn't a right and by not getting one doesn't mean they're being punished, it a sense of entitlement nothing more. Tory policy has led to only the comfortable feeling the benefits of the recovering the economy. There's millions of people all over the country working as hard if not harder who can't feed their children, you've failed to mention that and instead targeted a minority, which i agree with you on, but not to spite the 73.3% of the population who do work(the other 26.7% being made up of children, unemployed and the retired). That's wrong imo. Nobody should be getting tax breaks at the moment especially not the people who don't need one while the people who do are left to struggle(the unemployed don't pay tax remember). Standing up for the small of percentage comfortable people at one end of the spectrum to spite the small percentage of wasters at the other end is all well and good but what about the majority in the middle of the spectrum who are suffering as a result?

So what makes a hard working person who makes lots of money more entitled to a tax break than a hard working person who earns minimum wage? Do you look at the hospital porter who helps rush a family member down to surgery as undeserving while the bloke who spends his time on the golf course while he hires people to run his company for him and think well done sir, you deserve that tax break?

Re Trident. Ask the Ukrainians if they regret giving up their nukes.

Nuclear deterrent is the only thing that stops world war 3 imo

And rightly so because, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't about 40% of the nation's wealth owned by the top 1%? Which would mean that paying 25% of the tax is not even slightly remarkable.

Also agree with Bri, the problem with the "why should the people who work hard get punished" argument doesn't factor in that there are many people working every bit as hard as anyone else for £17k a year, they haven't had the break or bit of luck that the millionaires have had, but it doesn't make them any less hard working.

I'm talking about Labour government punishing the rich and you're talking about Tory government rewarding the rich.

It's not the same point I raised, the point I raised is that the rich will be punished by labour and I won't ever see that as reasonable politics, I think it's pathetic that those who achieved more are punished most.

I don't support Tory policies mate don't mistake me for a Tory, I just cannot accept the Labour Party intentions to 'share wealth'. It's wrong.

Working hard as a dinner lady or a pilot or a property mogul is irrelevant, you reap what you sew.

You can't ascertain success by hard work alone. Otherwise every grafter on a building site would be millionaires, sometimes, believe it or not education and intelligence plays a part (much more often than luck).

In my industry networking is the only way to get to the top, there's qualifications people do but there are no guarantees you'll make big money from having them, you need people skills, being able to hold a room, confidence, a ruthless streak and maybe a bit of luck. I've closed 7 figure deals without breaking a sweat, does that mean I'm less entitled to enjoy the fruits of my labour than the woman next door who's put in 70 hours at the coop this week?

But intelligence is something we are born with, why should people be penalised for being less intelligent than others? Some are introverts, not everyone can "hold a room". DO these people deserve to have their lives made harder? Are outgoing, confident people more deserving of government support? Surely you can't think that.

Obviously there'll never be agreement here as people are always going to use their own circumstances as a measure of what's "fair".

So, Terry, how would you structure taxes in order that those who've earned their riches aren't penalised, but also so that those working equally as hard in lesser paid jobs also aren't penalised?

    That's not my point.

I've never stated the weaker should be punished, I've stated that the rich shouldn't be punished. Is that the only options we have? One or the other?

Fortunately mate my industry isn't the only industry, but yeah, if you can't hold a room then tough ****, go find another profession that suits you.

Do you think you should be paid as much as Rooney? You were born with a very much inferior skill set to Rooney on a football pitch so should you be compensated for being **** at football by Rooney?

See my previous post mate ^

But yeah don't get me wrong, there are certain skill sets that give you a higher chance of making more money, and that's totally fair enough.
But given that these are innate characteristics and no ones "fault" if they don't have them, it should be the responsibility of those who reap the rewards to help out the less fortunate. From where I'm standing, anyway.

Oh and in relation to my previous post, I don't really have an answer myself. I think either the poor or the rich will always be hard done to, and if that's the choice then it should be the rich, who will still be rich just not AS rich. Rather than making families go hungry.

I'm not a politician mate, why would I come up with a solution to that?

Do you think I'd be sat here chatting to you if I could fix HMRC to make everybody happy?

Your daft theory that rich people will still be rich if you take half of their money won't ever wash with me, I'd be off from this ****hole in a shot if somebody like you ran the country.

I went in the armed forces as an introvert and left as an extrovert I'd say, there's many things that can be taught mate, people's characteristics are not permanent and that brings me back around to the UK being an inherently lazy nation.

    I'm done tonight.

    Ciao.
