But from the ashes, once the dust has been allowed to settle, will come
    "The Sunday Sun" or similar.

Ironically, by approaching it the way they have, it surely guarantees record sales this Sunday - advertising or not. Very sad.

Like knawing off a cancerous limb lol

What makes me laugh is that its just the news of the world getting the flack. I bet they were all at it, possibly Murdoch and Non-Murdoch media alike.

I get my news from the source, the whole system of newspapers is prehistoric and needs an overhaul. Do you honestly believe people will be reading a papaer in 20 years time?

The internet is going to envelop all of these papers pretty soon. Look at twitter, I use it and you can get news to the second on it. It is ALWAYS first, we are the jornalists now. Dinosaurs will die.

Delia, press release says no advertising in this edition and any income from sales will be donated to charity.
Murdoch also states that he is disgusted with the journalism, he published this rag,did he not know?,how did they hide the 100.000k paid as bribes to police officers?.

Just this minute heard that the web domain "Sun on Sunday" was registered a couple of days ago - by a person or persons unknown.

Which dovetails into my previous comment on here. (I'm not Delia, monarch)

7 Day Sun will streamline Murdochs Media machine and save him money. The Times The Sun Fox News and Sky News are probably all at it.. The guy is a scary right wing maegalomaniac that already owns the US media and has a huge influence in who gets elected in both countries. As we have seen with most of the current England squad that unless you live a squeeky clean life his footsoldiers will anialate your character... I never read the N O W as its full of idiot celebrities like Jordan GA GA etc with their baps out peddling their crap or advertising Foxes many many brands. XFactor Sky sports Britains got talent is printed at length in his papers to get you to pay for his tv network and dominate World media... Evil corrupt bull****.. Even the £90mil we get for promotion is paid by Rupert... I would rather go to games or watch it in a pub than line this ****s pockets.... ILLUMINATTIST Murdoch:police::emoticon-0108-speec

'certain sick individuals always want to look at other people's misery!'

    I hope that doesn't mean I'll be outlawed for watching re-runs of Ipswich 1 Norwich 5? ;)

Good riddance. I feel sorry for the people who have lost their jobs and those at the top who knew this was going on are not going to get sacked and will move to the "Sun on Sunday".

SN stopping being so bloody naive! We need a hard hitting investigative press to uncover corruption, injustice, hubris, hypocracy and most of all the truth. Excellent investigative journalism that uncovered the politicians expenses scandal for example. I'm not defending those disgusting practices sanctioned by the NOW but our society needs a free press that is willing to hold those in power or privilege to account!

No it bloody didn't the expenses saga being rumbled was feck all to do with investigative journalism! It was down to a series of very very pissed off civil servants who had to deal with all of this crap and secretly copied documents then smuggled them out to the papers there was bugger all investigating to really be done they were handed a whole dossier of claims by all MPs.

What we NEED in this country are more people who see abuses and having the balls to whistleblow about it

The News of the World, a cheap holiday in other people's misery. Good riddance. Rich 44 bang on the nail. Good investigative journalism doesn't come with investigating Jordan's Baps. On the Reisch scale the News of the WOrld scores closer to playschool vocabulary levels of output. Written by mongs for mongs. oh, but 7.5 million can't be wrong, can they?

A dark dingy alleyway in Warrington whilst tucking into a Microwave Doner Kebab from Iceland, proper class.

Murdoch has too much power, I get why they would want to hack the phones of celebrities because those types of scandals appeal to their target audience, but Murder victims and the families of those killed in Wars is not on. The police can access peoples phone records anyway by asking network providers to provide information and the forces conduct their own investigations, they should have respect for the dead and their families, there is no need to act above the law.

I agree with Wark it is sad that around 200 people have no lost their jobs, they are not the people who are responsible.

Did anyone watch that twat Hugh Grant on Question time on Thursday? Seems to of become an expert of this phone hacking business and police investigations into the media.

Hong Kong has free press in the South China Morning Post...it lambasts Chinese policy openly. I'm not saying it's a particularly good read JWM, but it does exist. Commercial free press is also gaining ground on the mainland, though not without its problems with the bureaucracy there.
