There were murmurs, especially on the math threads, but it's obvious that voices will be louder after3 losses in 5 games than undefeated in 12. I'd give him til Christmas personally, see how he gets on with one more summer and without Gerrard.
Good! I think he still deserves our support. However, this summer is as big as it gets for him; do or die time.
If he's still in the job then yeah this summer will be the making or breaking of him. He has to go out and sign the players in the positions that we can all see we badly need to strengthen. He also needs to lose the deadwood from the squad and that includes those players that he seems to have a preternatural genetic attachment to like Allen. Problem is if we're not in the top 4 he'll have a tough time attracting quality and will the owners want to give him the money needed to do this. There are a few players at the club now who the team can be built around, Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling, Can, Sakho, Henderson come to mind with players like Markovic, Lallana, Moreno and Origi in the background. There is a decent spine there but it needs depth and reinforcement and the right players to come in around it. Players who will deliver immediately and in the now but who are young enough to develop with us and last a good few seasons at the club.
Don't give a cheesy wotsit if Sterling goes. Only mentioned him in my above post as he's current squad. Think if we can get around 50mill off someone for him we'll be doing great business. Bring in a player/players who actually give a ****, have a finish and consistent #endproduct and use Ibe a lot more next season. He's the future worldie imo, just sitting under the radar for now.
When my mate tells me that Sterling wouldn't rule out a move to Manchester United ( ), then yes, I reckon he'll be gone. Do we want someone with that ****ing mindset anywhere near our team?
It's all down to the cash, if we can **** someone over for a change I'm all for it £50 million would be unbelievable, perhaps we can but Carroll back with the money.
I'd love Andy Carrot back at the club. He'd go well in a front three with Daniel Porridge and Mario Tagliatelli
