And Uruguayan full international, proven in Serie A who's long been closely followed by clubs such as Arsenal.

    Hardly a comparison.

Proven as what in Serie A? If you mean a bang average player then yeah, you're right.

might be the case with such club's as Arsenal but it was us who shelled out 10 million for him. and let be honest here, if Arsenal had been after him there's no way would city have got a look in.

I'd much rather we'd have gone for Deeney, to be fair, I think most on here felt the same at the time.

Not sure on the Livermore bashing he was quality for me last season , and for all the huddlestone for England calls a lot of the time Livermore was better . Granted he has been poor this season but so have most , he would of been the first player I would of signed up after the season he had , although not sure about what happened to the reports that 3.5 million was the fee as long as we stayed up ?

It's not bashing. Nearly every City fans agrees he was good last season, he just wasnt in a million years £8m good.

If we'd spent £4m less on him and not signed Hernandez or Snodgrass (neither are hindsight) then that's £20m to play with and the team would be no worse if we didn't spend a penny..

I think that's more to do with the current transfer market , young English had a good season had a few clubs wanting to sign him , was always going to push the fee up

Well yes, Spurs know he did well and we liked him so they're going to try it on however there has to come a point when we say no.

Levy must be one of if not the best seller in the Premier League.

Hernandez fee was 12m Euros which at the time was around £9.5m (The papers liked to say £10m)

The conversion rate has since fallen so if we're paying in instalments he could turn out to be a bit cheaper. Still too pricey mind!

A player's market value (to the selling club) will adjust depending on which club wants to buy and what position that club is in when an offer is made.
Spurs knew Livermore was an attractive acquisition for us (more than he would have been to say Southampton who would have paid less), so they could sell him to us for more.

Also the player's wage terms would increase to compensate for the step down in level (international recognition reduced etc) and the risk to his career of possible relegation.

Put it all together and there's no mystery why clubs of our stature pay over the odds for average Prem. players and we will continue to do so unless we become an established Prem. club.

This thread sometimes suggests we has options or could play with other possibles.

Sometimes, being a small northern club in the context of the EPL, you have to get what there is. Which is usually nothing or something.
Having that 20 million to play with doesn't mean we have a hope of buying anyone else.
I think we had limited options and a choice of nothing or something. Like JL, who Bruce must have looked at and thought if we refuse the price we may not get anyone else wanting to be here!

    Remember Lennon!?

I've no idea how they do these things but there must surely be some sort of fixed rate.

The company i work for purchases many goods and services internationally and paid for in installments on the rate at the time of the deal.

The rate was poor when we signed him, so we won't have fixed anything, we'll have hoped that the rate improved by the time the payments were due.

A few sites are now reporting we've agreed a £5.75m fee with Derby, but it's probably bollocks.

Well if that's the case and we make 100% profit in 1 year when he did fook all for us then it was a great deal and I take it all back. Actually add in the 300k loan fee and it's even better, essentially making it a £6m deal.

How the hell they can do this when neither side knows which division they'll be in past May is beyond me and I'll believe it when I see it.

I was ridiculed on here for saying that we'd get £6-8m for Ince. By the looks of it I'm not far off.

In a world where Leicester rejected £5m for Vardy, Ince has to be worth around the same!

Vardy looks good to me. People are far too worried about scoring records sometimes. You only have to watch MOTD to see the lad can finish.

I'd put money on the fact we haven't agreed a deal with anyone and you're still way out.
