No other top manager or club on the verge of getting the title will accept being so outplayed in their own backyard by a seriously weakened team. Can anyone imagine the likes of SAF ancelotti Pep letting one of their decimated rivals in their leagues coming to lord it over them at home? No chance
Maybe we would all like the quality of the Premier League to be raised. Chelsea being champions sort lf goes against that. I say Chelsea, i mean Mourinhos Chelsea.
It does not bother me. I don't agree with Jose that "football is all about points.". I am sure most fans don't go to a match thinking about points. It should be about good football, passing, goals, excitement. And of course winning too. A draw could be exciting too. No one wants to watch sterile boring football
I don't think it bothers any non Chelsea fan. It surprises them though. A team that was proclaimed by its own fans as one of the all time greats, unbeatable and a good bet for the quadruple, reduced to parking the bus against an underachieving, patched up, long ball side. Had Chelsea not scored a break away goal the fans would have been spitting feathers, as they were after the PSG game. I doubt you were waxing lyrical about Jose's tactics at half time, more likely you were pissed off that he'd gone so defensive against a team you consider to be ****. If Jose's tactics bother anyone it's most likely you. Diego was asked what he thought of LVG's tactics, he responded by saying injuries dictated United's approach. You somewhat bizarrely then quoted his post and told him to look at the league table. Defensive even when unprovoked.
Which fans were these? Certainly wasn't me, as evidenced by my thread on the Chelsea board from a few weeks back entitled "This is not a great Chelsea team". It can be, and most likely will be, with a few tweaks.
When I finally get in front of a PC again I'll dig out a couple of posts / threads from earlier in the season. A couple of the simpler Chavs would still argue this is a great Chelsea team. The reality is it's the poorest team to have won the league under Abramovich's ownership. None of the other three would have played like a team trying to avoid relegation.
Agree with Bods. Personally I don't think United are ****. Let's face it, you still fielded a team of internationals. They weren't kids. Any fans going to that game would have taken a win or draw. How it was gained wouldn't have mattered. Also consider we played with 10 men, Drogba was non-existant, it was a good win. Its ridiculous to claim every Chelsea fan is unhappy. We're over the moon with the win.
Quite a few of the more erm, qpr obsessed Chelsea fans felt you were odds on for the quad. Tbf Bod, youve been sensible enough.
Indeed. Am very happy with a win. Not sure why any Chelsea fan would be "unhappy". Concerned maybe, or vexed, but not unhappy
You can be happy with a win but unhappy with a performance. Thats sort of been our season up until recently.
That's true, but it's also better than a lot of the ones that didn't win the league. Ultimately the records show who won what not how 'entertaining' it was. For a team whose football is so dull, we're the second highest scorers in the league with a game in hand over the highest.
Very true. Though it's a lot easier to reconcile a bad performance where you won then a good performance where you lost I find.
Got to say last game I went to was Sunderland when we won 2-0 and I was absolutely disgusted with the performance. That's because winning is NOT the be all and end all. You pay a **** load to go to a match and therefore expect a modicum of entertainment. Unless you're a Chelsea fan of course.
And yes, the crowd was singing attack, attack, attack and yes, we have improved on this since. Someone was listening anyway.
Agreed. There are a lot of people obsessed with the United team of 2012-13. Apparently a monumentally **** team that was very dull to watch. Won the league by 11 points and scored 20 more goals than the team in second place and 11 more than any other team in the league. Went out of the CL to Real having been in control of the tie until the ref saw a chance to grab a headline. **** and dull though.
