Who was that Referee? I thought he got some things right but enough wrong to qualify for a Premier match allocation. Answering my question:- Anthony Coggins was the culprit.
I have probably been Gazza's biggest critic here but I was stunned how good he was. I know that he didn't have any real saves to make but everything he did was totally brilliant. His handling, his decision making, the way he dealt with crosses and generally how confident and assured he looked. I would never have believed it if I hadn't witnessed it. Whether it means a chance this season I don't know but showing that sort of form might mean we don't need to sign anyone else whilst Forster recovers.
Just got in, thought we played very well, will have certainly impressed Ron tonight. Superb goal from Gallagher ... get him in the first team, he knows how to shoot!
Found this on the Referee, knew there was someting odd about him, check his age! http://www.betstudy.com/soccer-stats/referee/143999/anthony-coggins/
How good is Targett? If you remember, we were desperate to sign a left back when all we had was a young, inexperienced Luke Shaw. We didn't sign anyone, Shaw was forced to play and we ended up £28m better off. Had we not signed Betrand could Targett have stepped up as Shaw did?
I was happy for him to step up to the first team. But then I watch a lot of youth games. He is a better defender then Shaw, but Shaw has more pace. Targett is far better at crossing and is good at corners.
And free kicks. Shaw was good at crossing, it was just the first defender was always good at getting in the way
Those who watched the match on Sky will be aware that the commentator couldn't praise the Academy enough...he had obviously been subjected to the full tour and charm offensive. It was so obvious I was beginning to fret we would lose because he was bigging us up so much. We are a powerhouse of football apparently He mentioned that when a player leaves his stats are entered into the black box which comes up with alternatives from round the world. Les Reed has the name of 5 managerial targets should Ronald leave ....Ron has mentioned this, says Les keeps the names locked in his desk drawer
I'd like to add some praise for the Blackburn team. They were from a lower league and, for once, were younger than us. Yes, we looked as if we had individually more skill and we were well coached, but they held their own and had us armchair fans worried. Well done to them for getting to the final and making it a good game.
Absolutely shocking that the BBC haven't reported on the u-21 cup final, and instead lead with a story about Jordan Henderson being "close" to signing a new contract. Who in their right mind gives a flying **** about donkey Hendo? No wonder youth football gets such poor support in this country.
The Saints lads have to practice their triumphal group slide....quite frankly a shambles. Obviously not enough training time spent on this.
