Predictions for today? I'm going for a successful breakaway possibly including a change in yellow jersey. I'm thinking France will get their first stage win.
Breakaway should/ought to start early. Johnny Hoogerland (if ok) to go for the points and get 'The Dots' back. Schlecks lacking in bottle? Cadel Evans will be after yellow, but Huschovt will lose it. French winner? But who? Look out for Sammy Sanchez (needs to close the time-gap). Possibly a Sky rider in there - Flecha or Uran?
Dunno about you guys, but the Eurosport stream is down, for me? I'm using the Flemish one. Do you have a link to an English commentary stream?
WOW! Dick in the car! Hoogeland must be seriously hurt! EDIT: He's back on his bike. Bike riders really are hard men. Really show up pro footballers rolling around on the ground after tripping on a blade of grass.
I would have given up after flying through a barbed wire fence at 40mph! Looks in a better state than Flecha though!
I only saw Flecha getting hit by the car at first. That looked a hard fall. Then on the replay saw Hoogeland fly about 10 feet in the air and land on a barbed wire fence! Amazed either of them could carry on.
Massively impressed by gilbert so far, he's built quite an advantage now. Gutted for flecha and hoogeland today, especially as the breakaway did manage to stay clear.
Yeah - Johnny would most likely have got the Dots back, and Flecha would have done something for poor old Sky. Big shame! [Edit: even though a Frenchman didn't win, they've now got the Yellow]

Thanks Impy - I missed it cos a friend phoned from the States. Hope they kicked the car & driver off the Tour!!! DIABOLICAL!!!!
Haven't heard about Hoogeland. The commissaires have the power to give a rider quite some latitude. If you just get dropped by the peloton and finish badly adrift (not sure what the gap has to be) then you get dropped by the commissaires. If it's down to an accident, it's quite a different matter, so he could still be in. The way the gap was opening up, between the bunch and him, he could be injured and might withdraw of his own volition. We'll know Tuesday, at the latest. (Tomorrow is a rest-day).
Let us know who you've tipped for the next leg and I'll get a couple of bob on at Billy Hill's and send flowers to the families.
