Wilbrahams doing well this year but I'm guessing that's before your time too going by your post here, there are others too but probably nobody you have heard of, ten years isn't that long really when you followed a team since the 70's
Not a good example really, a lot of our fans have it in their heads that we are up there as an established team like Man U though so it doesn't surprise me- plenty of ourplayers go off and do well elsewhere even if that is in lower leagues
They were 2 good players who moved to clubs to win trophies and England caps . Back then City were a team that had done very little .
Oxleys done OK for himself this year in the SPL but I'm guessing in a straw poll of fans in the street in Hull a large percentage of them would never even heard of him
ValiE="originallambrettaman, post: 7838361, member: 1000044"]He obviousy did at Ipswich, or Stoke wouldn't have paid £3m for him.[/QUOTE] Okay valid point . Although I don't recall him being great for Ipswich against City .
Tom Cairney springs to mind every time this subject comes up! I seem to recall numerous ex City players scoring against us a lot in the past, can't remember names though but the message boards lighting up with the big "why" question. Also threads started on a Saturday afternoon with Ex City players scoring. There's always at least one "why" in there!
Keith Andrews just popped into my head, similar to Delaney in some respects that he made it quite later in his career but was highly regarded in the end, seem to remember he captained Wolves before we got him, always looked like there was a player in him, I remember the FA Cup game v Villa (***an missed a glorious chance) i'm sure he did well in that game up against some decent players unless my memories playing tricks
It's a slightly daft topic really. Bruce didn't sign or sell any of the players mentioned. Unless we're talking about some weird gypsy curse, that runs through the very fabric of the club? Even the Allams can't be blamed.
People talk about Cairney and Cooper, but no one would have picked them a head of Hobbs, Chester, Faye, McShane and Bruce, or Meyler, Quinn and Koren. They both had to leave for first team football and have played best part of 100 games. They wouldn't have had that at City. Therefore being no where near as good players.
Couldn't agree more. I don't understand the obsession with Margetts either, he's a lot worse, but people seem to think that he'll be 'the on that got away'
He's nearly 22 and can't get into a struggling League 2 side's squad. Granted I've only seen him on a few occasions, but he's only scored goals at a very low standard in comparision to the PL
So if Margettes carves out a career for himself in the Conference that counts as us being silly and giving away a good player?
It seems that we're happy to let Ince go and we're looking to replace him with FC Terek Grozny(and Poland International) 25 year old left winger Maciej Rybus, who is available for about £3m.
Why do we insist on all these foreigners? We aren't stable enough to gamble on them adjusting quickly. Looking to the Championship would be much better.
