Best Driver: Rosberg. Assertive overtakes, brakes failed on him when Kimi got close. Worst Driver: Vettel. Should have won the race but for lots of mistakes. Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): Stephens. Over 1s quicker than teammate again and easily beat him in the race. Is Chilton/Bianchi scenario, except Stevens is British so is not getting the credit he deserves. Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: McLaren Best Overtake: Rosberg on Vettel x2 Funniest-moment: Rosberg's radio message "stop telling me the gap to Kimi" Most Surprising Result: Was there one? Least Surprising Result: Was there one? Special Mention to: Bottas, held firm against challenge from Vettel Race Rating: 7/10 Best Commentator/Presenter: don't care.
Best Driver: Rosberg and Kimi showed off best skills Worst Driver: Maldo the clown can't even find his grid slot. How many years have you been racing? Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): NASR! Best Team: Ferrari win this one Worst Team: STR seemed off the boil Best Overtake: Rosberg on the Ferraris. Or Nasr on Hulk Funniest-moment: ? Most Surprising Result: Rosberg can overtake Least Surprising Result: Hamilton is too quick for him Special Mention to: grosjean again being sound. Race Rating: 7/10 Best Commentator/Presenter
Best Driver: Raikkonen - did brilliantly to make his strategy work and split the Mercedes Worst Driver: Maldonado - Vettel runs him close, but I think Maldonado made as many errors on the first lap as Vettel did in the race, and managed to damage two other cars for good measure. Best Rookie: Nasr - Not sure how he ended up so far back, but looked fairly tidy overall Best Team: Mercedes - still out in front Worst Team: Toro Rosso - Nowhere this weekend, way off the pace, double DNF Best Overtake: Rosberg on Raikkonen Funniest-moment: Maldonado's first lap Most Surprising Result: Raikkonen Least Surprising Result: Hamilton winning and Ricciardo's engine blowing up - he now has one engine left to do the remaining fifteen races. Race Rating: 7.5/10 - Good wheel to wheel racing at Bahrain as always, the win was never in doubt though unfortunately.
Best Driver: Hamilton - started well, pulled out and maintained a gap and even though he lost valuable seconds in the first stop he was still able to Stretch that gap back out. He didn't put a foot wrong even though Ferrari had the fastest car this race. Worst Driver: Vettel and Maldonado. But a four times world champion like Vettel shouldn't be making those simple mistakes at this level. Twice in a race. Well we expect Maldonaldo to drive badly, that seems to be one of his hobbies. Best Rookie: Nasr Best Team: Mercedes - but they have to stop letting Ferrari dictate race strategy. They could have pitted Rosberg before Vettel Nd put him on mediums and see how Ferrari then reacts with Vettel. Rosberg would have gone deep into the race and then run a shorter, faster final stint on softs. Worst Team: Toro Rosso ...Red Bull almost though, one car didn't finish the other blew up on the finish line. Best Overtake: Rosberg on Raikkonen Funniest-moment: Rosberg.. Don't tell me the gap to Kimi anymore. Most Surprising Result: Alonso. Least Surprising Result: Hamilton winning Race Rating: 7.5/10..The win was never in doubt, but a good race.
Best Driver: Raikkonen - If he stopped earlier then he probably would have won, he had great pace all race Worst Driver: Vettel - 2 big mistakes that cost him dearly, average pace too Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): Nasr Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Toro Rosso Best Overtake: Rosberg on Vettel (both times) Funniest-moment: Kimi on the radio complaining always seems to make me laugh Most Surprising Result: Perez and Kvyat in the points Least Surprising Result: Hamilton win Special Mention to: Bottas for holding Vettel off to secure 4th Race Rating: 7/10 Best Commentator/Presenter Bruno Senna
Best Driver: Kvyat Worst Driver: Maybe this 'award' should become: worst driver that is not Maldonado Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz):Nasr Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: STR Best Overtake: Nasr made a nice moveon someone, then got screwed at the pit-stop yeah, that was the one Funniest-moment: ummm Most Surprising Result: Rosberg, not because of where he finished but what he did on the way. I counted no less than 3 separate overtaking moves. Least Surprising Result: Hamilton going in front and Rosberg being put on gap management duties. of course, certain people will try and tell you they are allowed to race.... Special Mention to:Kimi Race Rating: 7/10, wasn't what i hoped for up front, but I don't mind the midfield action, a bit disappointed Alonso didn't sneak a point, would be amusing to see the celebrating at McLaren over tenth place. Best Driver: Kimi Worst Driver: Maldanado but Vettel was a close 2nd. Best Rookie Nsar Best Team: Merc Worst Team: McLaren Best Overtake: Rosberg on Vettel Funniest-moment: Most Surprising Result: Vettel not on the podium Least Surprising Result: Lewis on the podium Special Mention to: Rosberg - good effort, Lewis for doing what's needed and Button. Race Rating: 6.5/10 Best Commentator/Presenter
Best Driver: Kimi. Although you could argue Hamilton; Kimi battled through very nicely and it was a good return to form. Worst Driver: Pastor. Vettel had a poor one, but Pastor was ragged yet again. Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): - Nasr. Overtaking his compatriot must have been pleasing! Best Team: Mercedes. You could argue Ferrari used pit tactics very well however Mercedes ultimately finished better off. Worst Team: McLaren. Okay they are improving and Alonso did okay - but to not even get Button on the grid was very poor. Best Overtake: Rosberg squeezing out Vettel. Funniest-moment: None Most Surprising Result: Bottas holding off Vettel. Least Surprising Result: Button not picking up any points. Special Mention to: Eddie Jordan for that insightful interview with Bernie. Race Rating: 6.5/10 not bad, won't remember it in a few years. Best Commentator/Presenter: Jordan for the interview.
Vettel had some gaffs, but he was pushing to try keep on top of the Mercs, Maldonado just seems to get worse. I'm not sure if I want Maldonado gone or just keep him for the comedy value.
Best Driver: Well I think Hamilton was pretty stellar again but I gave it him last week, therefore I'll go for Kimi Worst Driver: Maldonado is too greedy, Vettel mucked up today so he gets it. Was really rooting for him to! Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): Nasr Best Team: Mercedes despite the late fail. Went against tradition to protect Rosberg at the first stops. Worst Team: McLaren. $200m budget and one car? Best Overtake: Rosberg was aggressive for a charge, probably peeved both Ferraris off! Funniest-moment: Rosberg again, not wanting to know how much he was being hunted down Most Surprising Result: Vettel's race going wrong Least Surprising Result: Rosberg podium? Special Mention to: Hamilton, Rosberg, Bottas, Alonso and Perez!! Race Rating: 7/10 - Not amazing but plenty of tension. Best Commentator/Presenter: Eddie
Best Driver: Raikkonen. That pace in the second stint on the primes was just ridiculous. Worst Driver: Maldonado, we can probably make a rap track for itunes made up entirely of drivers radio calls saying "I got hit by Maldonado", pretty sure somebody just told him to get lost, sadly he took that literally and got lost trying to find his grid slot. Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): Nasr. Best Team: Ferrari, just. Worst Team: McLaren, whilst they are making progress, How many laps did Button complete this weekend only to not even make the start either? Best Overtake: Rosberg on Vettel. Funniest-moment:....... probably Ricciardo going bang on the final corner and crawling over the line whilst the commentator said "is that smoke from the fireworks or has his Renault blown up?" Most Surprising Result: Rosberg overtaking.... HE DID A THING!!!! Least Surprising Result: "I got hit by Maldonado". McLaren reliability woes, Renaults breaking down. Special Mention to: Rosberg, properly fighty drive, much, much better from him. Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Kimi, showing his team mate that stratergy and consistency can get the job done as well as pushing like crazy Worst Driver: Vettel made a hash of it and became his own enemy on the day tbh. Pushing so much to keep up with Mercedes seemed pointless. Sometimes you just need to accept the points you have rather than gamble them away. Best Rookie (Nasr, Verstappen, Sainz): Nasr I guess but Sainz also has a mention. Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Toro Rosso, I think they really did badly on set up here. Best Overtake: Rosberg on Vettel Funniest-moment: BBC with Hamilton and Vettel Most Surprising Result: Ricciardo 6th, I really thought they would of 'finished' a lot sooner Least Surprising Result: Lewis keeping it under control. Special Mention to: Bottas kept it under control and Vettel had no answer. Race Rating: 6.5/10
I really don't understand why Kimi deserves DoD, the two places he made were because of mistakes and reliability. It was a decent drive for him considering the doldrums he's been in, but it wasn't particularly special, he certainly didn't 'battle' his way through, unless you call asking for blue flags 'battling'.
I wonder what Hamilton would have to do to become Driver of the Day? Start from pit lane and win the race maybe?
