Pretty sure that the more you spend = the more you win.......see City for further details.

Only in your case you've continually ****ed it up

    Genius that like.

We wanted to win it so much that we played like we were wearing slippers.

First, congrats to Villa, they deserved their win.<applause>

More importantly from our point of view Brendan has been given his chance and blew it big time

As an active supporter for over 40 years I reckon I know a bit about what's good and bad for our club, sorry Brendan but last season Suarez made you look good but this season you've been found out imo.

yeah but city spent a damn sight more than 200m

United ditto, Chelsea ditto, Arsenal are the exception I guess But if memory serves me correctly Arsenal win less pots than we do over the last decade so you have to match the big spenders or win nowt.

200m isn't gonna fix it(and lower wages by far than the others) when all above you are spending more and drastically more on wages that just ain't gonna cut it

His biggest **** up was him continuously saying that liverpools signings "would not flop like spurs"...that was always likely to heap pressure on him and his signings.
Now that they have...2nd down to 5th at best and 7th at worst is worse than spurs going from 5th to 6th...he has no where to hide.

For me my signature has never changed since December
Going only one way under Rodgers

I could not believe the kack he served up

All the pundits on about it must be Gerrard cos he is the guy..... Well ffs we played with 9 men

I say villa well deserved it today. They played exactly the game I outlined during week. Pressed up and laughed as we ended up giving it to lovern who just gave it back to mingolet who whacked it away to villa

    Ridiculous play.

We ended up throwing on Johnson and balotelli which was funny in a way wasn't it

We scored of a bad villa clearance and they then upped their game while we just decided to switch formations and failed to deal with simple intensity

We got what we deserved today

My prediction that people lambasted me of 7th is scarily close I said I could see a way Rodgers could get sacked and it's coming true

But it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to win every game against people who have spent less than you. To say that we should've easily won that semi is bollocks and you know it. You know as well as anyone through your years of watching football that better managers and better teams than Rodgers & Liverpool have been beaten by lesser teams and managers than Villa & Sherwood in the past.

Cup matches aren't about who has the better squad or players, its about who turns up on the day. And Villa did, we didn't, that's why we lost.

Oh ffs, here's todays award for stating the bleeding obvious mate.

I wasn't talking about today's one off game I was talking about the respective strength of both sides, you're taking that out of context of the discussion

Is Rodgers really to blame for the game?

Look at the sequence of events:

Went for 3-5-2 with Gerrard and Markovic close to Sterling for support.

Realised Benteke was dominating Can so moved to a 4-4-1-1 so Skrtel and Lovren would have to deal with Benteke. That was before halftime.

Brought Balo on as we needed a striker and dropped Gerrard alongside Allen so Henderson could push forward. Turned the formation into a 4-2-3-1.

Then at the end brought Johnson on so Can could move into the midfield.

For me the players didn't turn up at all, we had one decent play where Coutinho scored and that was it. Balos only delivery he got was long balls where he had to do something from nothing, when on the ball he did well though.

Gerrard, Sterling, Henderson, Allen and Skrtel need to hang there heads. I'll let Henderson and Allen off as they were clearly compensating for Gerrard but I said at half time I would of taken him off and I would of had him off 30 mins in. Put Markovic in his correct postion and see if we do better there.

Skrtels only qualities he has is being strong and tackling hard, did neither against Benteke and he had a field day.

Rodgers negative was starting Gerrard but could you imagine the hate he would get if he pulled Gerrard off and we lost anyway? The commentators were in ecstasy abiut his soft header off the line.

I don't think I've taken that out of context.

Anyone know the details of Rodgers' contract?

I know it runs up to 2018 but I want to know if any clauses exist whereby his contract wouldn't be paid up in full.

Quite surprised tbh, as it seems a significant majority of Liverpool fans want rid of him.

I'd give Rodgers another season. This hasnt been a great year, but you should give him another year to show what he's made of and to see if he can turn the situation around and fix things up, if next season it's shown he can't, then it gets more clear that he isn't the man for the job....This season yes he did mess up with average signings, but now let's see if he can turn it around.....The pressure will be on him next year.

But with Klopp available, will your owners be patient to stick with him.

klopp is going nowhere near anfield... cannot see it. he has a big club lined up now.

Here's the thing.. Yes give rodgers credit for turning it round for 10 games or so... but once found out he had no response again. He failed badly at 2 games a week and worst of all his eye for a player is SERIOUSLY in doubt.

This oh blame half the committee lark or all on rodgers lark is not for me. they are all in there having selected some woeful players

For me if you sack dalgish after actually winning something then you did so thinking 4th was possible with what we had or his football was totally wrong and dinosuarish. It was frankly but seeing mingolet haul the line 10 yarders deepr, can't kick it then lovern just back pass for mingolet to lump it generally towards a midget its utterly amazing we wnet on a genuine run of form at all.

lambert, borini, balotelli..... all rogders men.. aspas too. lallana... lovern... its just a lot of money and would you give him another 50-80 mil to spend (depending on sales)

If he's given another season its a case of like when abramovich wanted rid of mourinho.. bottled it then left it as was unitl a few games in and then did it.

Waste another summer and lfc will have no players of any decent level left.

Sure it's all been covered already... we were utter ****e today, really atrocious. But Villa deserved the win and I hope they win the cup actually.

I'd say I question Rodgers starting line up massively - Lovren, Markovic, Allen, Gerrard should be nowhere near it - but Brendy's built the rod for his own back there. Who are the better players that can start for us... there aren't any. The substitutions (which were truly awful anyway) serve to demonstrate this: Markovic for Balotelli, Allen for Johnson, Moreno for Lambert.

Could pick holes in the usual culprits/unmentionables all day but the rest of the side didn't bother to turn up either. Sterling - 100,000K p/w + you're having a ****ing laugh lad, Henderson - where was the usual energy and dynamism, Can - obviously a bit uncomfortable at the back with Lovren to the side of him. We're missing Sakho badly if you ask me. Compare our defence and play when in possession and distributing the ball from the back with Sakho and without. Not a surprise that the form has dipped since he hasn't been featuring.

Rodgers got his tactics all wrong today but he set himself up to fail with the transfer business he's done in his time here. It was a timid, feeble and lacklustre display from us and another occasion where we've bottled it at the key, crucial moment. We did it at the end of last season and we've done it at the end of this one. It's just not good enough, that's the bottom line. Rodgers will be extremely lucky to get another season now.

IMO we were average against City and got two great goals and they gifted us huge space then people went and beloved their own hype

We have dropped our intensity consistently

We changed 4-1-2-1-2 v Swansea and should have lost it but ended up winning after the switch

We failed to learn the lesson and then put same out v Utd and got hopped off

Then arsenal game was once one goal went in we just fell apart

We've dropped right off and have really got back to out pre run form

Comment on 5 live at half time, a reporter mentioned they had been watching and had talked to Lucas and that he had kicked every ball, missed him badly today a pity that he seems to be picking up knocks on a regular basis now.

Yes his injury affected us more than we know
    Allen is a shadow.

Ibe injury and crazily being cup tied was nuts cos Rodgers flagged his return before Christmas why didn't he say don't play 3rd round kid

Anyway..... They are all crap anyway so it was always marginal

We are better than season 1 but worse than season 2. Season 3 is failure

I gotta admit, Rodgers has been very cocky this season, I tihnk his cockyness about not accepting help of defensive coach and DOF is gonna see his head on the chopping block.

I've not even listened to Rodgers all season, I am not interested in anything outside of games really, but some of the stuff you all have mentioned today, not good. Bit too much ego methinks
