Eassy to say after he missed out by 2 points. Otherwsie you wouldn't be saying that. #itwasntrodgersthatslipped But I do agree, he's been found to be lacking when it matters, in transfers and decisions.
Call me crazy but yes (for a fraction of the price Liverpool paid of course). He looked good for Saints because he was. This was of course helped by the fact that Saints play 2 defensively minded CMs who protect the back 4. Lovren has not had this at Liverpool with the exception of the occasional game Lucas plays. Stevie G and his insistence on proving his "extraordinary" passing range and offering nothing else is extremely detrimental to Liverpool's midefield/whole team, which I'm sure you have all realized..
They did, but that doesn't alter the fact that you've got a better side than them and should have beaten them. #sackedbyReading
1 season Lovren, he's been **** for the rest of his career, I still don't know why we signed him based on one half decent season which was asa much down to his Southampton teammates as himself His mistakes are not because of cover, he's been uttterly disappointing even the simplest thins he is supposed to do well and his bottle is questionable too because he did bottle the step up
He possibly could make a good coach but as manager involved in recruiting top players he is simply not good enough. Rodgers has always given the impression of the over promoted employee. His judgement of players has been terrible.
Are we really tho, Villa have improved under sherwood and we've got steadily worse from around the time we went out of the EL imo. This was a banana skin just waiting for us. 8 goals conceded in 3 games, piss poor
You've spent over £200m on players under Rodgers, if you're not better than Villa in every respect, then you should sack him in the morning
I guess the proof is in the pudding, at the start of the season I said wait, and we waited and it's worked out that you are probably right
We were fine until this season, we didn;t spend 200m this season. We needed to replace certain players and fill positions in the summer, he failed in that. no point in going back 3 years like. Last summer he had the money to address the problem positions and it was an abject failure. He piled on more mistakes since then too
Do you all really think Rodgers should be canned ? TBF he is a very good young coach who has not got experience on his side for these big games. ( Van Gaal, Wenger and Mourinho do) also he did very well and had Liverpool playing some terrific football last year and embodied the typical innovative young manager (pressing, short range passing etc) and although I may take the piss out of him and his ridiculous post match comments he showed balls switching to a back 3 when he was really up against it and making it work. He could do with help in the form of a top defensive coach and a DOF or transfer committee though.
The pressures of modern football will probably mean he may go cos FSG don't want to risk giving him more money, agree that a defensive coach would help him, been saying his defence management is poor since his first season, we've leaked goals every season under Rodgers with no improvement. The other sides are only gonna get better, Arsenal Manu City and Chelsea. We'll fall even further behind if FSG don't act but it hinges on a quality manager being willing to take the job, no CL, big ask I think the summer transfers will be the death of him tho, I think they were what got Kenny the sack and he made 2 cup finals and won one of them and still got the boot. I reckon his goose is cooked at this point. I suspect FSG already made that call. making lots of changes, DOF defensive coach ect, is just gonna set us back to square one, they might think might as well get a new manager
Or was that because he had Suarez, who is one of the top5 players in the world? We've all mentioned a DOF and a defensive coach, but Rodgers has stubbornly gone against this idea. His remit for taking the job was that he wouldn't work with a DOF and have final say on transfers, also that he would be free to pick his own staff and when questioned on a defensive coach has said he doesn't need one.
We can now add Sherwood to the number of managers who have tactically outclassed Rodgers. Dominated - Gerrard, Hendo and Allen were awful. Gerrard having a poor game was expected yet sentiment takes over. It's amazing how we continue to keep thinking he's good for the team. Was at the game and it was such a lacklustre performance. Some person said it best - after 3 years, you can see an identity in Liverpool teams under Houllier and Rafa. With Rodgers, there is nothing.
It was embarrassing when Rodgers got all cocky about needing a defensive coach, after a few clean sheets.
It tells a story that he wants Ash williams from us to see his ambition in recruiting players. Yes granted ash is a great player but he is not the sort of player at his age brendan should be setting his sights on if he wants to win the title....
