It's quite incredible that in this modern tech age such a boneheaded imbecile gets the power to disallow a perfectly fine goal. Changes everything.

I'm a fan of Rodgers but questions have to be asked. For the last 2 years when Villa have played us they've worked out how to nullify Gerrard and got the better of us. They have a big guy up front who is going to dominate our CB's so instead of playing 2 big lumps there in Skrtel & Lovren to try and compete, he continues to play a back 3 with Can who was just easy pickings for Benteke. Gerrard being anonymous and having 0 energy meant Allen & Henderson were again having to compensate their game to accommodate him. Villa have a lot of energy in that midfield with Delph leading the charges so you need to match them up and the midfield we had meant we were never going to be able to. Should have played a back 4 so Benteke had to pick on Lovren or Skrtel either of which would have done better in the air than Can, and put Can in midfield with Allen & Henderson to provide much more energy.
The defender had stopped playing, he didn't deny a certain goal, he denied you a goal scoring opportunity.
Not calling for his head, but without a cup win and if we don't finish in the top4 (very likely) Rodgers position is surely going to be under pressure. Its the transfers that will be the deciding fact and last summers transfers bar a couple seem to be complete wastes.

Got a point. So much this season (and last) has been about shoe-horning Gerrard into any team when he's fit (or barely) and it really does slow down our entire team or inhibit others from playing their football. Rodgers simply cannot manage Gerrard and it has been to our detriment imo.
It says more about Rodgers tbh that Gerrard has become a millstone, should never have started and let emotion get in the way. Now no one gets to play in the final, all because Stevie g has been made centre of attention
