Agreed. I don't think Oli had a particularly bad game, but for some reason it takes our team half a season to adjust to a striker and unfortunately that is time we haven't really got at the minute.

Some of The Monkees constantly abused and pilloried Laudrup for such performances. <ok>

We were poor yesterday no one can really deny this. What it did show up for me was a lack of depth in the squad in certain areas something that really neds to be addressed post season.

Anyone else notice the complete lack of activity on here after a defeat? Seems "the debaters" can only "debate" after a win. <laugh>

Seems that Monk can't motivate the players then. Laudrup was vilified for the same, alleged, problem.

You guys make me laugh.....we lost a game against a side high on confidence and are desperate for survival points on their own pitch while we were understrength. Come back to planet earth and take a look where we are having beaten some of the biggest teams in the division.....I expect this rubbish from our resident monk haters but not from any sensible fan who saw the position we were in before the match......what did you expect with key players missing ffs. if we had a bit of luck when we had our chances and had scored then it could have been a different story.....there is a fine line between all the teams and if you are not up to strength then you can lose...go and ask all the big teams who have lost against so called lesser clubs this season.......get real we have not been out of the top half ALL season and will finish the season in the top half with a record points total as well........that's the reality of what monk and his squad of players have done this season.........And all some on here do is slag off the manager and the players who have produced our best ever season........Imagine we could be in the championship now if we had gone down the road with our last manager....<ok>

We knew Leicester would play out of their skin but our performance was poor in the extreme.

Yesterday was back to the early days without Bony, when Gomis was clueless and un-hitable up front. Yesterday showed Oliveira to be out of his depth though, I haven't seen such an inept display up top since early Gomis and the 'forgettable twins', Schekter and Alvarez.

Because Leicester had nothing to worry about from Oliveira their defenders stepped forward to help condense the space available to our ineffectual diamond motif of a midfield. The freedom of the Leicester defence helped outnumber us in midfield which was over-run every time we got possession.

The harassment from the adrenalin fuelled foxes extended to our defence which stopped us building from the back, our usual way. Because they were pressed our defence was impotent in posession as they were forced all game to pass laterally with an occasional diagonal up field. This brought our midfield further back to meet our defence and allowed Leicester to step even further forward to press us.

I like Amat but thought he may be an accident waiting to happen at full back which he was. Rangel provided nothing on the other side which compounded our situation and Leicester were 'on us' again. It did make me appreciate the much maligned Taylor and Naughton more than ever.

Anyway, if we played like that with our full team/game I'd be exceedingly worried but we didn't. We played like an unsettled team with unfamiliar tactics which is what actually what we were yesterday so, although concerned by the performance I'm not overly worried.

Lovely to see the wums and luvvies smiling for a change though. Its something they've not been able to do much this season, what with us being so successful, so its nice to see them finally getting a game they can appreciate and gloat about. Bless them.

Good luck to Leicester, your going nowhere, see you next season.

I had a feeling even before the Leicester game that anymore points would be hard to come by. Maybe a draw against Stoke ?

Out of interest Vetch, do you have a football related comment to make? Or are you just going to snipe away hoping for a response from someone? Just curious that's all :emoticon-0112-wonde

ALL my comments are football related. This is after all a football forum. Unless,of course, you are now decreeing otherwise.

I don't seem to recall you complaining too much when certain posters constantly "snipe" at a certain ex manager.
YOU have done/still do, your fair share of "sniping", so please, less of your hypocrisy. Who needs it?
If you don't like my posts, there IS a remedy open to you. Why not exercise it?

Having seen the game on Sky I don't think we were as bad as some over hysterical posters are making out. We only had one fullback and he is approaching the end of his career. Our No 1 striker was out injured and his replacement has had very little premier League time and may well have scored if it wasn't for a great save by Schmiecal. Leicester were always going to be more up for it as they are fighting for survival and we have nothing but the end of the season to play for. Some would have liked Grimes to play yesterday. I disagree as I don't think it was the type of game or fair for a youngster to start. Although not yet safe I don't think they will go down so Newcastle might be a better opportunity to play him. I do think, along with other people, that our squad needs greater quality and strength in depth for the very important season coming up.

Vetch is right though. Laudrup was crucified by some when we're were safe with crap performances, so nothing wrong with Monk taking some stick, because I saw nothing in motivation or tactics from him yesterday. No doubt the usual **** will be flung now for dare questioning Monk.

bigkidderz you have covered the issues well from yesterdays game, shame Monk didn't set us up with 4-2-3-1, he got it all wrong yesterday in my view, and his subs again were late, Emnes should have started and not Oliveira, who is simply another Shechter, why do we bother with these very poor strikers that offer nothing? Not many games left, but we should still reach the 50 points mark soon, with the next 2 games winnable, Newcastle away and Stoke at home..........<ok>
