Spot on nads. Leeds went into financial free fall down to bad management. Every player has a large wage cut if we go down so we are in no way looking at administration or anywhere near it.

If the worst happens we have nobody to blame but ourselves. We have been utter w*nk this season. Would hate to lose our EPL status but even if we do survive what we looking at next season? Imo we have went backwards this season. Borini, Ki, Bards to Brids, Buckley and Gomez this season. Is that Ellis to blame?

Only Hull can save us, and they might you know, they really do have a bastard run in.

Leicester haven't looked bad all season and now they can get out of it, how big is that game at the SOL, ****ing hell.

Blame? 100% Ellis. Went too far with the cutbacks and has handicapped us in vital areas. Plus side? He's wealthy enough and savvy enough to not let us do a Leeds.

Can't put it all down to ES as he has generally gone along with funding for managers. We never did spend the 13mil we saved on Borini so maybe the footballing side thought they could build on the players they recruited.

Ellis Short has sunk £38m into this club, and so-called 'football men' have bought pies with it. They're a bunch of irresponsible assholes.

£38 million is exactly the point (although I believe he's put a lot more in than that...).

We needed to spend that this season alone in reality, go back and find the optimistic pre-season threads and everyone of us had concerns over CB, RB, CM & up front.

How nobody at the club did, I will never know.

£38million is nowhere near enough to take a club from mediocrity, plain and simple, look at what Spurs have spent to get from mid-table to the fringes, what Everton have spent on individual players, what Southampton have (admittedly generated) and spent.

The teams that haven't invested correctly are the like of us, WBA, the Toon and we all look ****ing awful.

Ellis is a multi-Billionaire, don't tell me if he had the choice Poyet wouldn't have tried to bring in a quality number 10, but no way would Ellis sanction a £20 million transfer.

We were extensively linked with Ever Banega, but we never made a bid, he went to Sevilla for a very affordable £8million, but wages of £80,000 per week. We won't pay that and as such we will be perenially ****, and when we do find a bit of a talent, there agent will move them on a-la Bent and Gyan.

I think Ellis needs to go for it, or go, he has to make that choice or we will stagnate as a club for all eternity, and given the fanbase and facilities that would be a crying shame.

Just to end, I do not think for a second Ellis is a bad owner, and thank him for securing the clubs future, which was in dire straits after the Drumaville lads ran into problems.

I don't have an answer to that one Billy!

Thing is, I don't think it would be hard to sell if he chose to, Villa and Newcastle struggle to sell, Villa are riddled with bank debt and for Newcastle, who SHOULD be a massively appealing club to buyers all of Ashley's financial write offs would be added to the sale price thus making them an icredibly expensive option.

Ellis converted debt to shares and as such it no longer exists, so from that perspective a prospective buyer has an almost clean slate on a business that (if we survive...) has a guaranteed minimum income of close to £150 million with the new TV deal.

Youi can sell that business anytime you want, if you look in the right places mate.

In simple terms, Ellis wrote of our debt, whereas Ashley & Lerner at Villa 'moved' there's.

Club is in good shape, assuming PL income.

Yes, I think I picked up that £38m figure some time ago, and it's stuck with me. I've just thought it through and today's team includes Fletcher (£12m) Rodwell (£10m) Johnson (£10m) Defoe (assuming he was swapped as we were told, £6.5m that we paid for Altidore) Wickham (£8m) - that's £46.5m for just five players. So the figure I quoted is clearly out of date.

Mind you, conversely, we're looking at an average £9m each for those five, so I can't see Short vetoing £8m for Banega. Nor am I convinced that he would block Benega's £80,000 week, because we're reputed to be paying £70.000 p.w. to Johnson and Defoe now.

But whether we agree on Short or not, I think every Sunderland supporter can agree that £46.5m for five players shouldn't be producing the garbage we're watching. The so-called 'football men' owe us all some answers, and it's high time we got some.

No question on that mate, it does seem that Gus overruled Congerton on players that would have been better suited, so maybe he will get it right this summer, but the fact remains we haven't put enough funding forward to press on.

Our club record is £13million for Gyan, the reality of the situation is team have 3 or 4 players in their current side that cost that or more.

We aren't competing, and that's why this time every year we are ****ting ourselves.

As I mentioned, Ellis has done great things, he just hasn't pressed forward and in this league that will kill you, and this season it just might.

Bruce broke even, pdc broke even, O'Neil spent about 25m and poyet spent about 15m. So around about 40m he has spent. With all the new tv deals pal he has got his money back and more. Short spending money is a ****ing myth.

Think Relics point is the money that has been available has been very badly spent. Don't think anyone can argue with that.
