I'm not that gutted or surprised reading that because i've had my heartbroken too many times by players to care about them individually anymore.

Sheringham did it, then Carrick then Keane & Berbatov and now Modric.

I feel for the fans that genuinely believed he was different and really cared about the club.

Love the club but when it comes to individuals there are very few I actually like anymore :(

The username does kinda suggest I am Croatian, didn't think it through too much when I chose it. I would change it but can't think of anything good atm and i'm known for the name and don't want to lose my 'rep' by changing it lol.

    All suggestions welcome.

Rightly, or wrongly, Levy believes, as I do, that this is a conspiracy between The Chavs, Modrics' agent and/or Modric himself to engineer a transfer on terms advantageous to everybody, except Spurs. I don't know whether those concerned were naive enough to think that Levy would just roll over, but they've seriously miscalculated. Again, I may be wrong, but I think Modrics' chances of joining the Chavs any time soon are close to zero.

The thing is, about the interview and all that, if its accurate, why doesn't Modric come out and just hand in the transfer request?

Its quite a simple thing to do, all this to-ing and fro-ing is causing no end of upheaval so if he wants the move that badly, hand it in, let us all know what a little **** he really is and stop all the conjecture.

Good point. Nobody knows. At the moment it looks like some war of attrition being conducted through the media. He has said that he won't hand in a transfer request, and Levy looks in no mood to back down. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the wholw saga develops. It certainly doesn't look very bright as far as his long term future with Spurs is concerned.

It's a bit harsh, if he did have an agreement with the chairman and he has broken that then we should be looking at Levy, not Modric as being at fault.

I hope he gets his move and I hope we get the money to help us push on.

I think Modric should be mindful of how much a player of his calibre is worth in todays market, I am not surprised £22 million has been laughed off but for Levy to say there will be no negotiations of any kind is to renege on his agreement with Modric. Modric was perhaps naive to sign a contract extension as what is in writing is legally binding but it doesn't reflect well upon our chairman.

That's just Modrics' side of the story, Darren. It all sounds very vague, anyway. Wh's to define "a big club" etc. I can't believe that Modrics' agent would have been naive enough to go along with such an alleged vague "promise"

His value will depreciate the longer this goes on, IMO £30M is the right price <ok>

6 years on his contract! And no one has offered us 30m yet.

    Stupid Chelsea fan.

In this Mkt. £30mm? No way do you buy a player of Modrics' capability for that money. Especially The Chavs. Levy would add on another £10mm just because it's them, and the underhand way they've behaved.

As i said before any bid was made that once a bigger club made a bid, then Modric will make it clear he wants to go and he will be sold, all this talk from Levy doesn't mean anything to me as a higher bid will come in for the player and Modric will be sold.

No mate but if I was one of these deadbeat "ITK" online users, i would have said "I have just been informed that Modric has gone to Levy and said he wants to go after Chelsea has made a bid" and then I could have had a following of all the naive fans out there!

Its common sense, Modric now believes he is too big for this club, Levy and Redknapp understand this but we can't sell our players on the cheap just because they want to move so if a serious bid comes in of 35 million plus then I expect he will end up being sold for between 35 to 40 million with a possibly part exchange thrown in.

I would repeat what I said earlier. I think the Chavs have seriously underestimated just how pissed off Levy is with their antics. I wouldn't discount Modric being sold - But to The Chavs? - at the moment, I can't see that happening.

Levy also has to consider what other transfer requests may land on his desk if Modric is allowed to go

Then why sign a lengthy contract extension less than a year ago?

If he was already thinking about moving back in January then he should've either not signed a new contract or signed a 1 year extension etc.

Modric has gone so far down in my estimates lately - glad I never got my shirt printed with his name :D
