We're in our best form since Invincibles and on our way to 3rd trophy in 2 season, yet we should go for the go for the guy who under similar conditions to Arsene's past couple of seasons (injury ravaged and best players leaving) is finishing mid table and no CL next season.

Seriously? You're going to count the community shield as a trophy to make a point? We have periods every season where we're unplayable and on our 'best form'. It doesn't get us anywhere nearer the league though. I'm not suggesting Klopp comes in but the defense of Wenger is not all that logical.

Id say its a lot more logical than slagging off your own manager when the team is the form team in the league and arguably playing the best since the invincibles.

Its also telling that 1 half of the season we were ravaged by injury and the other half weve got at least 80% of our players are fully fit. Im sure there's a connection somewhere between this and our improvement.

I'd rather a fan who you call a "Wenger apologist" than a fan who hopes we lose a game ;) <whistle>

I apologies for nothing Wenger does - I praise him for the stuff I find praise worthy (quite a bit) and criticise him for the stuff that IMO he does wrong (quite a bit) ;p

But I disagree with people who say that the only way to show ambition is to sack a manager, get in another manager who may not do better, potentially leverage the future of the club and get rid of players who aren't performing 100% because they aren't fully fit. I want to see the club show more ambition than that, and improve - which they have been doing the last 2 years...

I find it a shame that a minority of our fans describe themselves as either WOB or AKB.I just wish fans would put their efforts into supporting the team<ok>

Couldn't agree more - it kinda leads you down a trap of praising/blaming Wenger for everything!

I can't be ****ed arguing about the Wenger in / Wenger out debate anymore. Seems that some people are so entrenched in their views that it doesn't matter what actually happens on the pitch, because losing face seems to be more important that celebrating us winning.

What the hell are you on about? Instead of randomly mentioning my name, you could use actual quotes of when I compared Wenger to other managers during the time between 2006 and 2012. I was fully behind Wenger during those years, because yes our resources could not match that of City's, Man United or Chelsea, and because of that we kept losing our best players but at least Wenger kept us in the top four and our team was still playing brilliant football back then.

Now post 2012 is a different story, the restrictions on spending have been lifted, but are we any closer to winning the league and Champions League? The question whatever way you look at it, is no. In the CL, we can't past the past 16 and that despite drawing Monaco this year and in the league our title charge always crumbles when the pressure gets too much, it's all well and good putting an eight game winning run now, but the title is gone, and Wenger has to take the blame for the first half of the season, by not buying a CB and sorting out the DM issue earlier, he took us into the season with a huge gap in the squad, playing full backs at centre back was the result of mismanagement that cost us, if we even got off to an ok start in the league, we would have been in with a shout for the title, but because Wenger overlooked an issue we all knew about, he cost us a chance at the title.

He deserved plenty of stick for that, the reason me and many others compare Wenger to other managers now is because we just can't ever see Wenger winning or even properly competing for the big two trophies anymore, we as a club now have the resources to get some of top managers in the world and give them some top players to use.

Fair play I should'nt have used you as an example.. Good post actually.

I just get bored of all the '9-10 years of failure' type posts on here. They are just not objective.

I'm going to stick my neck on the block and say that Wenger will win the league with Arsenal in the next 2 years

And should he failed to do so, will you still want him to carry on after his contract runs out?

At least we could've concentrated on winning the league that season rather than making up the numbers in the Champions League as always. Silver linings.

I think last season and this season have shown a clear improvement on the previous 3 years. Since the change in our financial situation and the purchase of Ozil we have won an FA Cup, a Community Shield and are on track for a chance at retaining the FA Cup.

Also last season we spent longer leading the league than any other team but got outdone away against the big teams which meant we slipped back to fourth at the closing end of the season. This season we have struggled with injuries at the start but since having more players to choose from we've recovered well, beaten big teams and have a good shot at finishing second in the league for the first time in what, ten years?

We also have a much more talented squad than we have had for years which puts us in a better position to try and win the league.

Personally I think there is a really obvious improvement in the last two years to the few proceeding them.

Excatly we crumbled when the pressure of a title challenge was really on. Also can people stop mentioning the bloody community shield, it's a glorified pre season game and Man City treated it extactly like that. This season injuries have played there part, but Wenger's huge oversight in the summer was also a massive factor, going into the season with just two senior CB's, and one of those was struggling with an injury was shocking mismanagement. This season also saw us regress in the Champions League compared to previous season's, especially in terms of performances, I thought we were shocking in the group stages and then put in the mother of all bad performances against bloody Monaco at the Emirates. So in terms of getting close to Europe's elite, we are still a long long way.

Good post. I think some people here feel almost guilty for criticising Wenger especially when things are going better. He deserves the stick he got in the first half of the season and equally deserves the praise for our reversal of form. But some people conveniently forget that the pressure is largely off us as we are not challenging for the title or the CL. Getting top 4 is bread and butter for Wenger with the squad he has.

I am not against Wenger but the guy is in the twilight of his career and we should be looking for the next Wenger now. But people feel its sacrilegious to even talk about it. Managers like Klopp don't grow on trees and finding someone of similar quality will be bloody tough. I bet the majority here aren't sure if we'll ever get the title, let alone the Champions league with Wenger after our lifted monetary restrictions. The reality is Maureen will continue to be difficult to beat and Van Gaal is starting to get things sorted with United and after summer he will strength the squad massively. Now that leaves City, they can't possibly be any worse next season and I can see them spend in the summer to rectify these issues. If they get someone like Ancelloti then they too will be better.

Stick or twist is the question.
