Absolutely. A draw is really 2 dropped points. Not a disaster but if the other team defends might as well go for it. We attack better than we defend.
Be nice to win and we've never really been good at playing for a draw. We're ultimately aiming for second (1st is unrealistic I would have to accept) so winning puts the onus on Arsenal to do the same when they play them. Equally though in playing to win we're at risk of losing which would bring City back into it so I stick to my original assessment, we'll win 2-1 accidentally while playing to not lose.
You can never write of Jose pulling off a surprise in a game like this; either in personnel or tactically. I remember when we had City at their gaff last year and everyone assumed we'd park the pus. We went there attacked and dominated them and won. I would be happy with a draw but ultimately with the position we are in now, we have the luxury of being able to go for it if need be and try and kill the title off early. Like in 2006 when we beat you 3-0 at home to win the title. Everyone's expecting us to just play for a 0-0. Maybe Jose will surprise us.
Going for a win at home should not be a surprise if you are champions elect. .. It will be a matter of confidence for Maureen. If he thinks he can win he'll go for it. If he thinks United is superior he'll defend with 10 men behind the ball.
Personally I'd like us to go for the win but we all know that a draw favours us more than you (in title terms at least) so regardless of what pitch it is on, there is a high chance Jose will favour pragmatism. The fact he sees the bigger picture over short term rewards is why he's been so successful. It certainly won't be as defensive as some would have you believe though. I think that would be dangerous. You look better going forward than the other way and our home record is very good.
As per Sky.... Michael Carrick misses out at Stamford Bridge with the calf problem that forced him off towards the end of Sunday's derby win over Manchester City, and Van Gaal will also be without Phil Jones (ankle), Daley Blind (ankle) and Marcos Rojo (adductor). This causes United problems in the Defensive and D.Mid positions. Wonder how you'll set up now? But Carrick playing and Rooney up top has been a big part of your recent success. May be a much harder task for you if these 2 aren't in these roles.
Bugger!!! Rooney in midfield. I'll take a 0-0 draw now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...play-Wayne-Rooney-in-midfield-at-Chelsea.html
Maybe he'll go back to putting 8 men in defence, Jose'll park the bus and neither team will enter the other's half....
****e team news. One fit cb so mcnair/blackett alongside smalling. Or 3 at back. No holding midfielder so either rooney in midfield or di maria. Possibly valencia. Can Herrera hold? Falcao up top of rooney deeper. Ah well. Draw will be great now.
Did you not watch Holland in the World Cup? There was RVP, Robben and Sneijder plus the rest of the team in defence. Fair play, it caught Spain out for 45 minutes.
I bet you would! Lucky one off though. Holland were pretty gash from then on and didn't score in 240 minutes in the qtrs and semi.
