In short, Wiki articles, on political or military sensitive matters, are PR. PR companies manager thousands of wiki pages for individuals and corporations ect. You cannot believe a word on a wiki in certain cases

Given that you posted wiki links that supposedly backed your claims and wiki can be edited by anyone, then it's a 2 way street and it would be naive to think that Govt's didn't seek to redress the balance when other views are aired on a particular incident that have their own agenda behind them.

 

I posted a wiki about Operation cyclone, and cross referenced it with actual footage. It can also be accessed from the US gov websites via pdf plus I cross referenced it with the commons site too

My point was about your use of wiki which you've done on plenty of occasions, not on the content of the links provided.

You seem to be under the misapprehension (depsite me stating otherwise) that I don't think there was any US involvement in the Afghan / Soviet conflict, when there obviously was as they backed the resistance movement against the Soviets via the Pakistanis as did the UK. What they didn't do was directly have contact or provide funding to - Osama Bin Laden. You made that leap as if it was a given, despite the fact that he was with a completely different group and was anti US even then.

2 side effects of Napoleonic wars: we blocked French held ports (US ships couldn't dock) and press gangs could take any citizen to serve in navy. Problem was Americans back then weren't obese baseball cap wearing freaks with weird accents so press gangs frequently picked up Americans by mistake.

Britain actually had agreed to stop blocking American ships and try harder not to press yanks into the Royal navy, but the letter didn't reach the states in time.

The US also thought that Britain was too tied up fighting France to defend Canada and thought they could conquer that territory.

US pretty much got their butts kicked and the first build of the white house was burnt to the ground, and they asked for peace... although the funny thing is, they had started to turn the war (especially in the South/Louisiana ) and probably could have won but their government didn't learn about victories in the south until after they sued for peace.

They did manage to kill several Indian tribes in the west and settle their land. Britain had been protecting them... the ironic thing is... neither main power in the war ended up losing territory... but the little guys (Indian Tribes) ended up getting massacred.
