Offal, in milling terms, is all products of grain after flour is removed.

Eeeh you're a right mine of information today.

That nugget, is however, good to know.

Isn't that the stuff they sell as "roughage" now in stuff like All Bran? Sounds frigging offal...

Always a sad day when these old buildings die. I remember the demise of this one since my granddad used to work there in the 30's. Suppose the costs must be prohibitive to turn 'em into luxury flats or something else useful.

some goods snaps of the place here too...

The scrap value of that old machinery will be high, plenty of dough to be had there.

This is why we have so many posts on this forum, loads of Tim Vine types to whom this style of punnery is bread and butter.

Ta Ernie for the correction, only my 2nd visit to Geordie land my last one being 50 years ago when I hitched hiked from Hull to watch Newcastle v Man Utd, got stuck in York coming home at 11:30pm so slept the night in an empty Police cell and got a full English breakfast in the morning, all for 2/6d. Mam and Dad were frantic as the cops had rang through to Hull Police to tell my parents that I was ok, Mam was fearing the worst, I got a heck of an earful when I did get home, curtesey of a Jackson's bread lorry, happy days lol.

I have to say that after reading about this earlier on this morning I thought that I would have to take some pictures before the place is no more. Oh dear being from the West of the city and not been through to East Hull for a while I didn't realise how dilapidated the place had become, such a shame.

The building is, admittedly, looking a bit J. Arthur thesedays. A pity it wasn't developed into something of value and benefit to the city years ago.

But then again, we never seem to rise to the challenges like wot other cities do.

If you think differently, prove it.

First job I had when I left school, was with Rank's. I worked in the offices on Great Union Street. But for Blue Cross, the animal foods brand they had..

    It was a crap job.
