My point was the big picture of Barnes and the first line referring to Barnes in an article in which Anderson and Batson were the ones giving their opinions, the bbc rarely open articles for comments these days but as they're not modded properly its not kind of subject to allow comments on imo.

This board and this thread is better modded than the bbc.:bandit:

I agree with that, a poor decision that as it was always going to attract bigots. Not sure that's a sign of a sinister undercurrent at the BBC though, and even less that it's been orchestrated to attract abuse for Barnes himself, just a crap decision. They should pre-mod all comments on that site, like most of the other news outlets do.

Btw the article in the link is just another example of them making stories to suit their favourite club agenda.<whistle>

No mate, going to a family do in Blackpool, but having said that I wouldn't have got a ticket anyway, the 31,000 allocation doesn't even guarantee all season ticket holders will get one, LFC shareholders get an allocation, players and staff and commercial partners, what's left goes to the fans.

My mate got one but had to pay £6 administration fee to the club for the card transaction, ****ing diabolical.

Guaranteed a ticket for the Ireland v England game in Dublin though, my mate works for 3.ie mobile, the shirt sponsors, happy days and loads of Guinness.

I do feel sorry for season ticket holders at clubs like yours - very hard to get tickets for the Wembley games. It's a joke you only get 31000 as well. Assuming Villa get the same and Club Wembley is 10k that's another 18000 tickets. Totally wrong.

The allocation is even lower for the final.

Wembley has its own "season ticket" section, the FA and their hangers on, corporate sponsors, national county FA associations etc etc.

Yeah that's right, you get 31k for the SF, but only about 24k for the Final, as the "Football Family" get thousands of tickets, plenty of which end up either being flogged or passed on to someone who's probably not been to a game all season <doh>

To be honest I think the 31k for the semi is even worse than the 24k for the final. They should be giving as many fans as possible a chance to go to that one. Obviously you could say the same about the final but we've always known that's different.

Not sure like, as surely the 31k for the SF could be mirrored for the Final and still leave enough to be passed around the local FA's etc?

Plus being a pass holder and going to the SF but then missing out on the Final would be devastating, at least if the allocations were mirrored clubs could guarantee everyone who went to the SF a Final ticket

The FA have taken the magic of their own competition away, games in all rounds up to the finals played on Friday's,Saturday's, Sunday's and Monday's, the semi-finals at Wembley, northern fans stranded in London because the last train home has left before the game ends etc.

    ****ing joke.

    Bang on.

Tomorrows semi is a classic example, 5.20 ko that clashes with Chelsea vs United <doh>

Also, ours is at 3pm on Sunday.
City play at 1.30, and Spurs at 4.

The latter stages of the FA Cup are now just another game to anyone not directly involved.

'Scousers go to Anfield to worship at the shrine of Shankly, not Allah or the Almighty': Why it was surprising to see Muslims praying in a stadium stairwell
    • two men praying at half-time during FA Cup clash
    • How would the management have reacted if some devout Catholics had decided to stage a holy communion at half-time?
    • Muslim fans could start demanding special prayer rooms at stadiums

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sp...rising-Muslims-praying-stadium-stairwell.html

Is Mr Littlejohn's Jewish faith behind this article?

Or is it covert racism hidden within the article?, or has he got a point?

To be fair to John Barnes, he doesn't often play the race card. Wasn't he one of the ones that defended Suarez?

I think Barnes lack of managerial appointments is down to him being a bad manager... but it is easy to see why he might think otherwise.

As many black players that have graduated playing in the game now, it is odd how so few have become managers.

The only time that term should be used is when someone is (beyond all doubt) using racism claims to cover for their own failing.

Otherwise ANY use of that can fairly be determined as a form of racism, either consciously or subconsciously

"Doesn't "often" play the race card"? WTF

Whilst I don't doubt their is a fair amount of racism still in football, however as a non-black man who doesn't work in football and isn't looking for a job in football its hard for me to assess to what extent it goes.
But by going by the reputations and attitudes of alot of the Chairmen and boardmen at football clubs who are frankly still stuck in the 1950s it doesn't surprise me that Black managers find it more difficult to get work.

However on Barnes, I don't think its a racism (or as much as he thinks) thing, seems more that clubs just think he's a bad manager. Not every footballer is cut out to be a manager or coach, even if they are willing to have a go at the management game.
