We could also try living in the present too.

You've chosen to pick a 5 year period in Klopp's career as a coach/manager,all I did was to choose to pick a 5 year period in Wenger's career. If you really want to talk about the present,I never recall an Arsenal team under Wenger being bottom of the league half way through a season.

No, I chose the.most recent 5 years because.... wait for it... People tend to look at one's most recent history.

And you're right, Wenger has never lead us to the bottom. He has lead us to 5 consistent last 16 exits in the champions league. 9 consistent years of no trophies until recently and 10 years of finishing outside of the top two. Hence why I said consistent mediocrity.

If we had a vote on whether we would have Dortmund's last five years or ours, I think the votes would be unanimous.

You can hardly pick more than the last 5 years for Klopp as he's only been a manager for 7 or 8 years.
There's also a good chance Dortmund won't even be playing in Europe next season never mind getting to the last 16 of the CL

Not sure Klopp is actually a good fit for us, as a club we are tottally different to Dortmund. Klopp at his best is a manager who gets his team to work really hard and play at a manic pace and they also rely on the crowd to keep them going, as we all know the Emirates is dead most of the time. Klopp has often talked about the importance of a proper atmosphere. Atletico Madrid seems like the perfect club for Klopp, I would take a small gamble and wait for Pep.

who knows about Klopp, dortmund still have some very good players so why are they languishing in mid table? (i dont watch german football so someone who does will give a good analysis) yes they have lost some brilliant players over the last few years but so did we and wenger still kept us in the top 4, so either wenger is a better manager that some have been giving him credit for or Klopp is not as good as some are suggesting. i would not be against him taking over from wenger as he is getting on a bit, just think some are jumping on the bandwagon that said a couple of years ago that Klopp was the best manager around, a few years later his team is mid table.

Pep would be the best choice, im sure has said he wants to manage in England one day and would like to live in London, considering he has rejected the chavs, does not take a genius to see where he might want to go. Plus our board would give him a free reign to do what he wanted with little interference, hence the reason i think we would be an attractive proposition for pep.

doubt he will stay at Munich more that 3-4 years, as very few managers stay that long at byern,

Klopp has said he's got no interest in money bags bollocks teams like City and the Chavs.

I think he'd struggle at Real or Barca and I'm not convinced he'd be any improvement on Wenger.

In fairness we wanna talk recent history. Recent history has Arsenal as FA Cup holders. Despite my issues with Wenger, I think we need respect his consistency. Can he win us the ultimate prizes? I dunno, but I think he is the right man for us right now.

I am still devastated we didn't win the league last year. It was our best chance and he ****ed it all the way up!

Its a shame that its come at the wrong time. We all should know that Wenger's time is limited now and we should be looking for an appropriate successor. For me he is the ideal man to take over. He worked with a very limited budget with Dortmund and managed them with plenty of passion. He also isn't looking for money but a project he can work with. He is similar in ideals as Wenger. As managers go, he would be a perfect fit, but alas he will be going elsewhere....

I can't believe all the fuss made about a man saying he's quitting his job at the end of the year. Another media sh*t storm imo, football is messed up.

I find it weird when comparing Wenger to other top managers that our own fans (Cini/Sanj etc) choose to ignore the fact we have been competing on a restricted budget.

Certainly between 2006 - 2012. Our net spend was TINY compared to our rivals because of financial restrictions. That's not an excuse its a large factor in assessing our managers performance.

In my opinion this is only Wengers second Season since 2006 - were we have watched him try and compete on even ground. So to assess him fairly is difficult.

The team do seem to be improving and our signings have been good, particularly Sanchez. (..but we have seen some of the old tactical mistakes come through).

Next Season is going to be very interesting. We don't need to sell players and we have money available. Lets see what the Boss can actually do.

This is it for me. I think this will be the true indicator on whether Wenger is still elite level or not. You can see shades of it coming back but it all comes down to whether we can do it over the whole season. He has the players and the money, now its down to whether he still has it.

I'm convinced Arsene apologists have battered wife syndrome "it's not his fault, he can change, you'll see."
