as time creeps on i am growing concerned that we have not been able to secure a quality player or players if we have any hope or chance of going up this season or next we need major signings to take place now without these we shall remain a middle of the road outfit

What are Chopra and Ingimarrson if they're not major signings? Who do you want?

Gotta disagree here White Horse! Chopra is a top quality signing. He didn't get as many games for Cardiff last season due to injuries, and Cardiff having Bothroyd, Bellamy, Whittingham and others all vying for a starting spot. At this level, not many players could even get sub appearances past them!

Ingimarsson is an experienced head who has been around a while and can not only add good quality to the center-back berth, but also benefit our youngsters with his knowledge of the game. I think he's a thoroughly good addition.

Admittedly, when names such as Bowyer, Dyer and Bullard are thrown around, we do expect another 'big name' signing, but do not let disappointment distort your view of the quality we have.

I think there is a different problem - not quality but quantity. We are four or five decent Championship players away from the squad we need. We still don't even have an average right back.

Totally agree Hamps. Happy with what we have so far but certainly still short in a couple of areas.

Next week is make or break!

No quality signings next week and we will be struggling IMO. The Dutch tour is on the horizon and we need the nucleus of next seasons squad getting valuable game time. We are still so threadbare in so many areas of the team with our midfield and full back positions badly lacking in numbers and above all quality! Clegg needs to pull a few rabbits out of the hat over the next few days to placate the fans. He keeps saying that there is money to spend so for christs sake get on and spend it!

Quite agree jonny, its not rabbits out of hats we need but cash out of pockets! We have the money so we were told even before Connor left so now we must have a hell of a transfer budget, instead we watch other clubs signing up quality players who would have been ideal for us. Come on Clegg piss or get off the pot.

We have only spent £1.2 Million so far in transfer fees on one player and the other 3 have been free signings! (Cresswell via a tribunial) We can argue til the cows come home about the merits of each individual signing but the fact remains we seem to be scouring around the bargain basement for freebies and has beens! I know its harsh but I've had a belly full of promises over the last few years and my patience is running thin. If Lee Bowyer signs it will be another free albeit his wages will be quite chunky. We need some quality purchases and soon!

To bring those players in for so little money is blinding business.

Do remember that ME was never shy putting his hand in his pocket for Jim or Keano, but lessons have been learned from the fact that spending loads of money then got us nowhere.

Having a brilliant manager in Paul Jewell is what will get us results, not star signings. I do think we're only half way there in what we need to bring in though.

Right, just be patient with me here as one is pist as a newt but i have to say that i don't see Chops as a majhor signing. We have had no BIG name signings as yet and after the sale of CW i think it is of massive importance that we make a massive signing!!!!! When i say massive i don't mean Bowyer (who BTW i think would be a good signi8ng) I am talking about someone that would make a drastic diff, which TBH i don't think is gonna happen, not when that ****ing ****er Clegg is in charge of negotiations!!
Hope one is wrong but have a real nasty gut feeling that we have been duped!!!! Money from CW sale will not be invested in new players, it will go into ME's/SC's pockets. You have been warned, don't get your hopes up!! Watch us sign the over 33's while teams like Leicester sign quality!!

Sorry but i have to say FOSC/FOPJ.

Just accept that we will always be a mid table champ side!!!!

    Yours, Spanish (very pist)

looks like several people agree with me yet to make a quality signing if we want to make a move up we must get a big name this could then have a knock on effect plus help to swell the gates come on pj lets go to TOWN

spanish eventhough you're pist I agree 100% with you! No ambition and no hope! I've been a season ticket holder since 1987 and I am underwhelmed by the signings so far! If we don't see some quality signings in the vital areas we are going to struggle. FFS Clegg spend some serious cash. We are Ipswich Town FFS!

I've got to say that toward the end of last season I thought Edwards was playing very well, proving himself to be a fine Right Back. Controversial I now, but I think He's the best Right Back we've had since Fabian Wilnis in his prime

Good signings all around so far, yet some people cannot help but be negative. It really amazes me football, the expectation and unrealistic views by fans.

Chopra for £1.2 mill is an absolute bargain.
Cresswell for peanuts for a player young hungry etc is another good deal
Ingimarrson is younger than De Vos when he joined, and isn't the slowest. A good player
Bowyer is a cracking signing. Has a great season last year, how on earth we've got him is beyond me. EXACTLY the kind of midfielder we need

Ellington I must say I'm not convinced about. However, time will tell.

As has been mentioned, other managers splashed the cash without really knowing what to do.

Keane assembled his squad soooo late going into his first season. Priskin just before the Coventry game, it was ridiculous. He knew how to waste money generally, as did Magilton.

How much did Norwich spend last year on adding to their side?? I admit, they simply added to their side and didn't lose their best players.

HOWEVER - we have plenty time left, we have signed five players and I'm sure more are on the way. I'm much more happy with Jewell's efforts so far compared with the last two clown managers we had.
