Bellerin is the quickest player at the club, its official:

4.42 seconds is the astonishing time Hector Bellerin set to break Theo Walcott’s Arsenal record for the 40 metres – faster than Usain Bolt managed at the same distance during his world record-breaking 100-metre run in 2009. Thierry Henry boasted the club’s best time of 4.82 seconds for years until Walcott smashed it, but the England attacker has revealed that the 20-year-old Spaniard has shaved one hundreth of a second of that landmark. Bolt took 4.64 second to run the first 40 metres of his enshrined dash in Berlin. Walcott’s revelation caused world indoor sprint champion Richard Kilty to challenge Bellerin to a race. “Any sprint distance, any time, any place, anywhere,” said the Brit.

The first thing I thought about when I heard the challenge is how detached from normalcy some of these ****wits are, just coming out and saying yeah I bet you 30,000 quid, stupid ****er.

Pity there isn't a 40 meter sprint then init <laugh>

Bolt runs over 100m, if he raced over 40m I guarantee you he'd do the 40m quicker.

    So it's a silly comparison.

Duno... Bolt is a terribly slow starter and generally beats the fastest by overtaking them in the final 50m. Bellerin clearly has great initial acceleration but would then get utterly nailed when Bolt actually got to top speed.

Only when judged by other world class sprinters, not full backs. I'd be amazed if these times were accurate and probably why the british sprinters have had their say.

By footballing terms though, he's obviously rapid.

pfff, one needs ot understand the difference between a 100m sprinter and a footballer.

100 spinters do not get up to speed until 50m, because of the way they run. A footballer trains to be quick over shorter distances, 5m 10m 15m ect and train to be able to change pace, though British players usually suck at changing pace.

The way Bolt runs and a footballer runs are not the same at all. The technique is totally different. Comparing them is pointless and if Bolt trained to run a 40m race, I doubt anyone would beat him, he's the fastest man alive for good reason.

One of the reasons he has a bit of a slower start is because he is a tall ****er.

Footballers are trained to store energy and release it more slowly over a longer period of time (the duration of each match). Sprinters are trained to release their stored energy in shorter and much more intense bursts. For this reason Bolt would probably be knackered after about 20 minutes and Bellerin would not be able to keep up with Bolt in a 100m dash.

No not really, a 100m sprint is a sheer explosive power sport. Every aspect of the sprint is broken down and trained individually - On a DAILY basis.

The start has always been the weakest part of Usains race but even so he's moving at an elite speed between 0-50m. After that he's on another level to anyone.

As a S&C coach I'm highly sceptical about the numbers coming out of the Arsenal camp. Bellerin doesn't look powerful enough to be running that kind of time.

I'm 100% confident Bolt would smoke Bellerin over 10-20-30-40 or 100 metres. He's 6'5 of lean fast twitch muscle fibre. The fastest man who ever lived.
