Tbf, Wickham had the quality to play out of position, in a position we needed him to play at. We were more than adequate up front last season.
Maybe Morro should play as a midfielder, he does work his bollox off, but IMO he's taking a place that maybe a natural goal scorer should have. Although I think we have poor options in the forward line. But all this talk is irrelivant when Cellino is in charge, unless he has a massive change in ego and attitude and lets the people who know how to run the football team actually run it, we'll be going no where. I don't want to add to the doom and gloom, but I wouldn't be shocked if our good youngsters were sold in the summer..
Morning Shaks, strange why they fail when playing for Leeds, Jake Livermore and Barry Bannan are another two
Save the lions and vote YES http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rotherham-facing-possible-points-deduction-5512087 we know you love us
Bored Elland, maybe get me walk in, then paper and bookies, pay a bill and then either cut the hedge(which I been putting off since last Nov) at the mot will stop fecking nagging me about it. Bet you wished you hadn't asked. On the plus side, it's a nice dry sunny day. How are you bud, still skiving off work?..
The other strange thing is our finances, how is the club still in debt. I don't believe in curses but maybe Revie had a point...
Morning all Glorious sunshine here nice to go to work in shorts and t-shirt is it brightening up over there ?
Leeds United: The Elland Road Curse Under manager Don Revie, Elland Road became a veritable footballing fortress - feared by visiting fans and teams alike. But Revie also believed that his team's ground was haunted by a gypsy curse. please log in to view this image Leeds United: The Elland Road CurseImage courtesy: Wikipedia [creative commons] Elland Road pictured the 1970s "Elland-Road-Floodlights-night" by Picture @ wafll.com's Elland Road History. Don Revie's achievements at Leeds have often been overshadowed by the team he built's reputation for hard play. That the team was gilded with skill, stamina and glorious passages of play has been forgotten in the chants of 'Dirty Leeds' that even to this day haunt the current crop of has-beens and journeymen as they toil ineffectually away in the middle reaches of the Championship table. But Revie was also a supremely superstitious man. Before every match he took the exact same route to the dugout. He feared ornamental elephants and - more famously - birds. He removed the club's famous old peacock from the badge and forbid any bird motifs or images from Elland Road. Before matches, the team would undergo a number of rituals - including innocuous but strange games of carpet bowls - and wore a blue suit to every game. In 1971, his team enduring a mild slump in form and seemingly suffering from happenstance, he became convinced that the ground itself had been cursed by a gypsy. Where this belief came from is uncertain, but that year he sought the assistance of a 'witch' from Scarborough to rid the ground of its evil blessing. Tales abound that the ground was situated on a gypsy cemetery, or had been cursed when gypsies were refused entry to the city. Whether there was ever actually a curse and whether the supposed witch helped to remove its spell, Revie's Leeds failed to win the league that year, having headed it for almost all of the season.
Morning Mighty, nice and sunny here in Southampton too. Do you think if Rotherham are deducted 3 points, that you'll survive in the Championship?
I'm not totally against foreign players. Loved Radebe, loved Yeboah, loved Somma when they were with us. What my problem is with is overloading the squad with non home grown players and our local lads missing out. We should concentrate on bringing up British Talent and making sure we provide brilliant players for the national teams (England, Scotland etc). Let's bring in foreign player but in moderation.
It's a ****ing joke Shaks, we've even got a transfer embargo. I wouldn't mind if we'd actually been splashing the cash on new players so we'd overspent on that, but we haven't. We haven't got anything to show for being in so much debt apart from Bates' East Stand vanity project. What a waste of money when it could have been spent on players. That's one thing that Cellino can't be blamed for. Our current financial mess is down to Bates and before him Ridsdale, two good old English 'businessmen'
I would think the FL care as much for the Wall as they do for us and I'm sure they want them to go into L1 and they'll give the little Yorkshire club a smack on the wrists......
we both have a very tough run in elland and points will be very difficult to come by if they lose 3 points we will be 2 behind with a game in hand but its hard to see where we are going to pick up points.i listened to last nights game and Rotherham totally dominated the game and how they never won i dont know. i think its 50/50 so fingers crossed if they dont get a deduction we will go down
It's the Latin type foreigners that don't seem to suit the club, we've always had British and Irish and Scandanavians and the odd player from around the world that have fitted in more easily.
