I have done a lot of thinking about what has gone wrong with our club in the last few years, and in particular the detachment that seems to have developed between the players and fans. It is my view that we haven't had a hero that we can truly hang our hats on since the days of Quinn and Phillips, and that is what we are in dire need of now..

I do not need a hero ,all i need is to see players in our team sweating blood for the cause ,honest endeavour goes a long way for me if they play with this they can all be heroes come the end of the season and we stay up.

You won't get any sweat or blood out of this shower of **** playing for us now.
The rotten core what the mad Italian told us about is still here.

The mantle is Defoe's for the taking I'm starting to think 442 him and whickham, Johnson and Buckley out wide with Jones and pva in support I think this could get us the goals in the short term to keep us up

John O'Shea has all the attributes of a hat stand - no mobility and easy to get round. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Peter Crouch is probably the best player to hang your hat on, I can't think why he just looks like a good hat stand.

The stories about his insanity came from the same players who are still letting us all down.

He's not a crazed lunatic, just someone who passionately cares about the game we all love .......... do the players we have at the club?

We got enough of what you say is missing for us to stay up last year and reach a cup final. We have had an ordinary season with maybe four or five shocking performances but that is no yardstick to judge the whole season by. The quality of the squad reflects our spending and we bound to be among the also-rans.

Don't know why you have trotted PDC out again as he would have ended up blaming the Pope if he had stayed with us much longer. He was tactically inept but so wrapped up in his own beliefs and opinions he could not hear, or see, what was not working. One point from seven games sums him up.

To be fair mate, that's a term usually trotted out along with 'he lost the dressing room'. The players, at West Brom, were blatantly ignoring what the di Canio was asking them to do ........ sadly, people like O'Shea believe they always know best,

bloody hell, PDC along with Poyet and the of our ex-managers are long gone. why keep bringing them up ?

PDC the right idea, but didnt know how to implement it properly. He took everything personally, and dropped/played player based on who he liked the most, not who was best for the team. Can you imagine were we would be now if Poyet hadnt brought Cattermole back into the fold ? If a player ****s up, then fine him even drop him for a couple of games, but freeze him out compleatly just because the manager doesnt get along with him ? thats bollocks.

Spot on dan - just because you fall out with a player you don;t freeze him out completely - especially if he's not important. PDC had the right ideas undoubtedly but he was very arrogant and always blamed someone else when things went wrong and always said it was because of him when things went right.

If a player is a bad influence, disruptive and a drinker it can be a problem.

If that player tries to rally the other players against the manager he should be frozen solid.

We've no idea what goes on in that club but itfucking stinks.

Absolutely. I went to every game in the 15 &19 point seasons home and away and never left early once. Yet I find I have left two games this season early and we've not (yet) been in the bottom three! I watched a "captain" sink into a hole in the ground on Saturday after we conceded the first goal. When we needed him most to rally cry? I really am clueless as to what we need to do but something somewhere needs to change

Reduce the thread title by the last 3 words and see how motivational that could be for the rest of them.
