Are the UKIPian’s, on the forum, all steaming into NIGEL today at Newmarket (5.10)??? As I said on Monday Nigel is from a family I know very well (the horse Nigel that is not the politician, Nigel) in that his mother was Deirdre (this is her first foal) and her siblings Duncan (who won the Irish St Leger) and Samuel (Doncaster Cup winner). Given his lineage he does seem very big at 25/1 although enthusiasm has to be somewhat muted given that he appears, on jockey bookings, to be his stables second string.
Well Barney - they'll all be making plans for Nigel should he nick this But I'm more impressed with Might Bite at Chelts. He gave me inspiration for my puppy's racing name - Often Bites! If Caid Du Berlais's last run can be glossed over, he'd have a cracking chance in the 15-50 - it's a big if though. Cloud Creeper looks good for the 17-00. Upped in grade, but he is on a winning streak, and won his last race easily.
As per yesterday there are some great opportunities to add in football bets with your horse bets at this crucial time of the season where promotion chasing teams are playing teams already thinking about their summer holidays with nothing to play for. With that in mind, in form "and must win at all costs" Watford to win at "nothing to play for" Nottingham Forest tonight at odds against looks good. Two others bets for me today. 4.40 Newmarket PEACOCK 9-2 5.40 Newmarket SPIRITING 5-2 Two singles and two doubles with Watford.
A double and treble only for me today as there looks to be plenty of nice races today which could involve 2 or 3 horses between them. 2.05 Chelt MIGHT BITE EVS 2.20 Newm RAVENHOE 5/4 Should know my fate by 2.23 and adding in VELATOR to place in the 2.40 ASWELL at EVS. If I accomplish this double or treble then I can look further ahead to today's racing and even tonight's football.
Looking forward to seeing Faydhan's reappearance in the Free Handicap. Think Osaila has a great chance in the Nell Gwyn on her Group 1 form. Also had a bit on some each way shouts... Thee And Me in the second race a Beverley and Next Approach and George Dryden in the final two races on the card at Newmarket. Had a treble on Nico de Bionville at Cheltenham. One down, two to go. Although Might Bite was the best of the bunch. Shakalakaboomboom and French Opera are more outsiders. The Warrior must have a good chance in the next. If an Aidan O'Brien horse wins early in the spring then it is always a positive.
Money talking but what a f******g s**t ride that was on RAVENHOE. Why try and go through them when you could have gone on the outside.
i just been in the bookies after work--ela goog la mue 5 20 isa a non runnner -whilst in there did a e/w double on a couple of outside fancies --Carnival KIng 28/1 and Double Deal at chelt 16/1 --first leg ok--could be a monster pay out for a small bet....
Going for MUTAAFAKIR here at Beverley. Won first time out last season and is drawn ok in 7 in this big field.
Classic quote from Willie Mullins on Sporting Life: The trainer said: "Our first three home in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham - Faugheen, Arctic Fire and Hurricane Fly - definitely look likely to line up again. get off the fence Willie
Should be a nice placepot at Newmarket Glad I'm managing to stick to my golden betting rule number 17 (a) - "Don't touch the flat before Royal Ascot"
