Our old friends Bristol City got promoted back to the Championship last night, they did it in style to, thumping Bratfud City 6-0. Helped by 17 goals from ex-Tiger Aaron Wilbraham this season.
Yeah, nice to hear. I like Bristol too, very pretty and full of character. Also full of people living on the streets, worse than London. I wonder how our other old adversaries will fare now, Luton that is.
The kit Bristol played in was an interesting colour scheme! Good luck to them, I like Bristol since that play off final - A great set of fans.
Echo the comments about Brizzle fans that day, I've no doubt that our fans wouldnt have been so congratulatory if the roles had been reversed. On another issue, if we get relegated the prospect of coming up against the likes of Wilbraham fills me with confidence....
Lots of big shorelines in League one last night, just look what we're missing, can't wait to get out of this media circus and back to real football. On another note, Wigan practically confirmed their relegation last night. That was a bit of a plummet.
I sort of agree with you about real football and media circuses, but the cold harsh reality is, they'll be promoted, they'll have to spend more on players and wages and infrastructure, they'll have to increase ticket prices, and if they carry on winning, they may get promoted again and repeat everything I've just said. If they started losing and don't challenge for promotion, it will be depressing and feel like failure and the edge quickly goes off being beaten every week regardless of the division you're in. Its all a double edged sword really. Is it worth it? I think so, yes. Can it cost you? Yes, I think it can do that also.
If you think about it, if Man Us season had been like last years, no competing, no wins of anything significant and another season of no European football, they would be seriously ****ed.
Agree. I guess it depends on circumstance too, I'd rather be watching the rubbish we've been served this season than us be a lower/mid table outfit in the lower leagues with a team of old has been. On the other side of the coin, I'd rather be a lower/mid table lower league outfit with a squad of promising youngsters. I guess it's feeling like a part of building something, progression, not just reaching a point and stagnating. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two steps forwards, whilst we look like taking a legacy back with us with the academy I'm not convinced now is the time to step back, it'll be a few years before that tree bares fruit. But I'm just bored of seeing us set up to defend a point every game, fed up of seeing us playing utterly **** consistently, fed up of constant losing, fed up of Allams 'global ambition', fed up of the drama that comes with PL football, fed up of all the diving and cheating and bored of the whole circus act in general. Premier league, championship, league one or two, I come to watch Hull City not the opposition, it'd just be nice to see Hull City play a bit of football, give us a bit of excitement and enjoyment for thre extortionate amount of money we're pissing away on tickets to watch them.
Now that Dave Whelan has stopped pumping his millions into the club Wigan are going to have find their level: I'm guessing they'll become L1 stalwarts, with an occasional foray into L2 ................ PL, FA Cup runs, World Cup talent ................. it was good while it lasted.
I agree, it could easily be us. My gut feeling is that Hull City, living within its means, and with a savvy owner, would be a Championship club with PL aspirations.
I agree but there's a time when I wouldnt have said that. We had momentum under Pearson and Taylor and even though we were of a far worse standard than now it felt like the fans would steamroller us on to become a major force. Now, whatever it may be - owners and their antics, the expense and losing most weeks perhaps? - the momentum seems to have gone and there is a huge swathe of apathy around the club. I honestly don't feel most care about if we get relegated or not. Everyone just seems a bit tired and, as I said, apathetic. It's as if supporting us has become a chore rather than a pleasure.
Been to Ashton Gate many times as me and the wife both have family in Bristol. Seen us play there obviously (saw Billy Askew make his City debut there) but also been a few times as a neutral, games against Rovers and Swindon were particularly interesting.
